Here is the quote from the latest update on Gray:

"A surprise on the list for a major prospect like Gray is SMU, but their proximity to his home may have something to do with it.

"SMU is a great school. It's close to home," Gray said. "Terrence Wilkerson, one of my best friends, goes there. They have a great staff. I've had a chance to have more contact with the coaches and I enjoy being around them.""

It actually sounds like we might have a chance

Gray is quoted in a new rivals article as saying he and Bushell are great friends, and that Bushell wants to play in college with Gray.

Gray was ranked 14th best and 2nd best running back in the state of Texas by the new Rivals Texas 100.

Bushell was 20th and 2nd amongst athletes.

Cyrus Gray will visit--

Post by Charlie NT73 »

North Texas this week-end. Seems he wants to talk to Coach Dodge--
about how he would fit into Dodge Ball!
Gray and a couple of other 4 star guys are visiting, along with some
monster DL prospects.
North Texas now has 7 pledges/commitments for 2007.
Maybe number 8 will be announced soon.

And by this weekend you mean the same one that he is going to Oklahomda State?

Another Gray article is out...again he reaffirms his top ten (and we are still there) and give the next three after the top ten, Colorado, Arkansas and LSU. Kid is a big time player, but still shows us some love

Alfred Dupree

Post by Charlie NT73 »

The 4 star LB from Skyline, Alfred Dupree, was the prospect that has
made public, his commitment to Okie State--- This is the same kid that
changes his mind every other day--I bet he end's up somewhere like Miami or Fl State come next Feb signing day.
Cyrus Gray, the 4 star RB from De Soto is still shopping around--enjoyed his visit to Denton and meeting the staff. High interest in NT!
North Texas has a 4 star DE from CA showing high interest in North Texas.
There will be some big surprises coming to the recruiting world very soon-
especially here in the metro plex!

It would be cute that they're so naive if it wasn't so sad.

I think it is cute how you down play stars in one thread and then brag about the star ratings in another. You would fit in well with the SMU recruiting sagas.

Rating stars-

Post by Charlie NT73 »

You are right- braging about star ratings and downplaying another-
Seems like the star ratings are just name tags - a 4 star on rivals,
but a 2 star on Scout, or a 3 star on texasprep. So, if I introduce a prospect, I will just use what is avialble. I have seen 4 star guys that are a bust, vs a walk on who becomes all conference. Who knows how they will turn out. I have seen players listed on Rivals.com that have no stars
but are being recruited by Big 12, Pac 10, ACC, Big 10 and other schools-
go figure that out!

Once again...another article and again UNT not mentioned in the top 13...but if you consider somewhere below that as high interest then I have a RB named Joe Mcknight for you. Don't worry that he is signed elsewhere, UNT is somewhere in his top 117 teams.

By the way, kid really enjoyed his time at Okie State...looks like they will be in it till the end.

new update from Aggie Rivals on Cyrus Gray. At the end he does seem to express some legitimate interest in SMU as he has been hanging around the players with Terrance Wilkerson. Seems comfortable at SMU but its going to be tough with just about everyone in this part of the country wanting him.

If he hasn't committed by September, beating Tech sure would help Bennett recruit this guy. I have the feeling that Gray wants to see more than just talk about our improvement, he wants to see RESULTS! And what better to show RESULTS than to beat these @!!%holes !!!! We haven't beaten them in 25 years so its time to start the tradition, NOW :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

For recruiting reasons primarily, I also have the feeling that Bennett will not be around much longer if September goes poorly. Orsini's hand will be forced because of the lead times required in recruiting these days. Guys, its time to WIN :!: :!: :!:
