Can you imagine a punter leaving early for the draft?
Had an interesting conversation earlier this week with Morstead. Someone asked him about a tackle on a kickoff, and he reminded the questioner that Kellis Cunningham does kickoffs. Then he added: "Kellis is a truly great athlete. I've trained myself to master specific skills (punting and kicking), but I'm really not a very good athlete."
I'd love to be as bad an athlete as he is.

Thomas Is a great guy. Not only is he a great punter, but he is a really good student too, and he is one of the hardest working guys on the team in and out of the weight room.

How many other punters will you see running a hill in July wearing a lead vest?
I'm betting he's the only one.

"and NO COACH", maybe that's the answer?

Pretty sad if people think the best player on the team is the punter!

What an ignorant statement — when you have a great player, you have a great player, and he can be the best player, regardless of position. Morstead is sensational.

Agreed, he's an awesome kicker/punter. Having both of those skills will be a big plus in the NFL, since teams want to carry as few special teams people as possible.
Also, did anyone see him getting people pumped on the sideline? He seems like a real leader on top of his playing skills.

Yeah its Morestead's fault they got so many yards forcing NTSU scoring drives of 99, 80, 80, 75, and 71 last nite. That's what was so crazy. Morestead turned the field around all nite long and SMU only had one turnover-right?-but they still marched up and down the field on us.

I can't remember too many national championship teams or even conference champions whos "best player" was the punter. Nothing against Morestead....he is a very good player.

We joked about that one...said he should've got it another foot to 18 inches to put it just off the goal line. Feigned profound disgust at it.
If there is a player on this team who has the potential that we wish they all had at their respective positions, it's this guy. Thoroughly enjoyable to watch him boot that ball...and let's not forget props for protecting him too! No blocked punts....

Is the rumor true that Morestead walked on because he knew our "OC" would create lots of punting opportunities for him???
