Just disgusted with the whole thing.
It's a coaching graveyard because the "Laughable" coaches they've hired over the last 20 years we're dead when they took the podium. Hire a REAL Division 1 coach and that trend will change.

i saw a gap-toothed, methaphetamine-addled redneck in searcy arkansas who was drinking red dog beer (yes, it still exists) in the back of a pickup truck who could call a better game than we did today. we should hire him. it'll also probably fit in our budget...
carr, solich, slocum...could you come up with a more tired, washed up list of guys? just because they coached at power schools and failed what possibly makes you think that translates to success at smu? oleary was a special case. there wont be many of him, and besides he's not washed up but he probably doesnt have the energy or charisma to turn smu around either. doherty was a special case in bball for sure. still young enough to deal with the challenges here but also had experience. not easy to find.
Steve Orsini will do this. It's just a shame that we have to endure 9 more games and an entire offseason... again. Orsini will get the right guy... hopefully a Todd Graham-type who will come in and win in '08.
the big question is... do we truly feel this season is over now? if so, FIRE NOW so we can find a new coach and begin RECRUITING (THE ROOM CAUSE OF ALL OUR ISSUES - TALENT)..... a good coach who can recruit=more interest in playing here and more talent = better team.
or...
wait to fire till after off season, struggle to find coach, and lose another year (and next years team sucks as well) because we get into the recruiting game too late...
I am not saying this season is over yet, and i'll still be there, but the end of last night's game, walking to my car was similar to the feeling when you finally realize a relationship is over. that there's no hope and it's time to move on. yep - sucks.
The proper course of action is to finish the season. If we get to November, and there isn't a snowball's chance, then your arguments become more valid.
The season should play out. Nothing is a question mark anymore. We shall see whether the defense finds its horse or not.
