What exactly is your policy on the use of the SHIFT key? Is it some sort of a spasm-caused flinch?Stallion wrote:Look you are not going to find a Coach with Head Coaching experience that doesn't have a few negatives. Bowden, Neuheisal, Franchione. If you guys insist upon a Head Coach with experience you're just going to have to live with a few imperfections. My observation-is sure I would definitely consider Franchione. He has a much more impressive College Resume(aka the Gregg Super Bowl exception) than any head Coach in SMU History since the DP. Yes he should be considered. Don't start tossing away names until you know who is going to be interested. Franchione has not set the world on fire-but I think its because he has 2 of the Top 5 Recruiters in the Big 12 South. Plus Leach at Texas Tech who might be the No. 1 offensive mind in the Country. But the Aggies have at least gone to bowls, beat UT. Positives are that he has rebuilt multiple dead-beat programs(TCU, NM) from scratch, he recruits Texas, he is considered an excellent evaluator of talent. SMU has and could do worse-see Rossley, Cavan and Bennett. Before you start dismissing retread Coaches with experience-consider what Rich Brooks has done at Kentucky. Some of these guys can Coach

yeah stallion it is kind of funny
almost any possible coach mentioned
and first the crowd says "ah we dont want another coordinator"
"been there done that" they moan.....
then if someone mentions a "retread"
"aw we dont want him because he did this or that when he was at....."
so they don't want a coordinator with no head coaching experience
and they don't want an ex-coach with any "baggage"
ummmmmm so whatta-we-do?

C-ya @ Milos!
I think it depends on the baggage the guy brings. If its like Bowden that he likes young women, no problem. If its like Neuheisel where he has flirted with the NCAA police maybe not. The Fran story isn't finished yet at the Cult Compound on the Brazos. If it turns out that he was taking those newsletter monies, and using the monies to pay recruits or players then he should not be considered. Otherwise, yes, he should be considered. Just make sure the contract is written by Stallion so we can blame him when Fran pulls another fast one. At this point, we should be open to any coach with a successful resume despite, age, health, addictions, or sex. The only disqualifier in my book would be a history of sanctions on their programs by the NCAA.

And his aversion to the "Enter" key; what is up with that? Paragraphs, baby. Paragraphs.
