Barry, be careful what you ask for.

The rules for the chat include one that there is to be no offensive or harassing language.

That disqualifies most on this board.

i am on the chat right now and its dead. bad questions, generic answers and funny cartoon sounds coming from the chat system.

in one of his response, orsini said when asked to describe what he is looking in for a coach..."Looking for someone that is a proven winner on and off the field. We have three goals for our student-athletes so I'm looking for success athletically, academically and conduct....."

So why did the search firm contact Gary Barnett? If Barnett comes to Dallas maybe he can work a deal out with the Cherry Pit in Duncaville to help him in recruit entertainment.

SMU Football Blog wrote:I have changed my mind on this. Look, these chats are ridiculous. Orsini is going to answer only what he wants and how he wants. There might be a nugget of info in there, but he isn't going to tell us anything specific or mention anybody by name. By and large, it will be a complete rehash of the press conference.

Like I said.

From the chat:

Steve Orsini: There's a sense of urgency here to get the next leader for our football program. That was one of the reasons we decided to announce the change of leadership when we do so that we are in the best position to get the best available coach in America to come to SMU.

Follow-up question would be: And what options will you explore when the best available coach in America does not want to come to SMU?

You really can't blame him. He can't openly speculate with the rest of us.

The question we were all waiting for, and finally a more conclusive answer!

PBM: How much weight do you place in negative "baggage" that a head coach candidate may bring? Some of the names that have been rumored have some issues in their past.

Steve Orsini: Certainly my track record indicates that I'll consider a candidate with some history, but I also know there's no perfect candidate out there. Knowing that, I drill down to investigate myself those allegations and consider if that candidate still fits into what we're trying to do at the institution.

This leads me to believe that Gary Barnett is a serious candidate at SMU.

Agreed. And it's good to see him out there.

Ditto. It keeps saying connecting to server and then connection failed. Could be my work firewalls.
