We tried the WAC, but unfortunately that didn't work out so well. Besides going east seems to get more attention.

"I will be around for a while. After this hire, SMU should move to the PAC. USC, ASU, CAL, Ore."

Being that I live in LA & travel throughout the Northwest, I'd like that. Sorry that it will never happen, though.

I'd be willing to bet that if the WAC was part of the BCS-BS, it would work.

Our destiny:

1) Build the program.
2) Go independent.
3) Sign our own national television contracts.
4) Put all the money in our pockets.

BECOME THE NOTRE DAME of the South.

This is a DREAM thread, right? :D :D :D

Put down the bong. We aren't going anywhere absent a whole slew of changes. Anytime one gets into this conference realignment thing, everyone starts carping about how this school deserves BCS more than that school. You have the Big Ten realignment. Big East realignment II, Big XII realignment, PAC realignment. SEC realignment. The fact is that none of this will happen anytime soon. When it does, illogical things will occur depending on who goes where. What we have to do, is just get to be good at all sports we play, improve our attendance and fan base, and hopefully be in a position to be considered. Right now, we're lucky to be in CUSA and not the Sunbelt. The other thing to consider is to get CUSA to get better. If CUSA teams start beating BE teams, MWC teams, Big XII teams, then the conference gets to be a player. Until then, its just a smoke dream.

(1) first you get the money;
(2) then you get the power; and

And then you need lawyers, guns and money to get you out of this.

What about just getting congress involved and forcing the big conferances to take in the smaller schools based on region.

I expect its because Congress can't find its @ss with two hands and a flashlight on important issues, much less ones as trivial as college football.

there will more than likely be some sort of college football playoff before SMU gets into a BCS conference.

I've got a suggestion: why don't we figure out a way to compete in CUSA???
