I hope we are contacting a lot of people for the job. Head coaches, former coaches, assistants, etc. Remember, Bob Stoops was an assistant coach before he got his first head coaching job at OU.

I have been told by a reliable source that SMU has contacted Missouri offensive coordinator Dave Christensen. No doubt, he's a hot commodity with the way the Tiger attack is playing. Christensen interviewed for the Central Michigan job last year.
You view this as a problem?
Dave Christensen was mentioned a LONG time ago. Nice of Sporting News to pick up on coacheshotseat.com's blog entry.

A good coordinator could work although I do not favor that route. The biggest problem with coordinators is that when they become HCs they forget they were coordinators. (See PB) Look at Spurrier. He still calls the plays for USC and has always called the plays for every team he has coached. Bennett first fired our good DC and then hired a new one rather than sticking with that with which he was best.
I read the Bio on Christensen and he will probably make someone a great HC some day if he remembers that his forte is as a OC and OL coach.
Just think, if our HC doubled as either a OC or DC, we might find some budget money for a special teams coach.
All that said, I still favor someone with some strong experience and name that could attract some good assistants, or a current HC with a staff in place.

And I think Kate had it in her Bennett fired story on the graphic of possible replacements.

BTW, If he has been contacted, I don't think he is the only Big XII assistant that was contacted.

I think he is an awful choice and hope it does not happen. Missouri has been good through 8 games this season and they have lost to the only good team they played. IF, and I mean IF, we are going with a cordinator, there are much better choices out there.

This guy is the most underwhelming choice out of the whole lot. He's probably last on my list. I'd take Malzahn, Holloway, and Steve Logan before Chistensen. He's the offensive version of PB.
Everybody's hooting and hollering about Chase Daniel and the Tigers but before this year, one could argue that Pinkel and Christenen were underachieving with Mizzou's talent.

Remember, the search firm SMU hired is doing most of the calling. That is their job. They are suppose to go out and blanket the nation's possible replacements. I don't think the search firm would be doing it's job if they called Mason, Barnett, and Bowden and called it a day. SMU must have all bases covered.
