Its not a matter of looking a gift horse in the mouth, i am quite aware of smu's predicament thanks. Nutt seems like a bad fit. Fran has no charisma, which i think is the #1 trait needed to turn SMU around, along with credibility. It aint Xs and Os. Fran has some credibility, but it is diminished right now. As for what makes me think Gill can succeed here, what makes YOU think Fran or anybody can succeed here? You might think SMU is alot like TCU, but I got news, it still is not. Fran had a serious committment to turn things around from TCU all the way throughout that school. We have what i would call "selective committment" at smu, not true commitment.

Perhaps if we had a coach who did not hang around the "park cities" we would have someone more in touch with the great inner city and small town athletes that we need to recruit to SMU.

Then who do you suggest? Pete Carroll, Steve Marucci, Steve Suprrier, and Nick Saban aint walking through that door
