why does everybody on this web site want some has beens that arent coaching nad really never done a good job terry bowden hasnt coached in 9 years is 55 years old and has so much credability fo the state of texas you know we should bring him and his little brother jeff to be the offensive coordenators you know he won a national championship as an assistant with florida state or guy morrislets hire some guy thats had one winning season as a coach an won 11 conference games ever glen mason he's turned mediocre programs into slightly better mediocre programs with smu's prowess of former program status. Why not go for an up and coming urban meyer type, somebody who runs a fun offense connects well with his players and has strong recruiting ties in texas everbody is mentioning names of people that would be great for coaching a tulsa or a rice or a divison 1-AA school were in dallas metroplex theres over 6 million people we need a coach who can come in and keep the top talent in dallas they had basketball coach who could do that in jimmy tubbs where top athletes backed off on there will to play for smu because he let some one borrow laundry detergent the need to reach into that over 1 billion dollar endowment and pay somone whos worth a damn to be the new head coach

worst comment ever. Up and Commer - Phil Bennittito. Enough with the up and commers, we need the wolf from pulp fiction.

phile bennet was 47 when he was hired, up and comer i dont think so what do you want me to say, "oh terry bowden we want you so bad" . first of all defensive coaches hardly ever make it as head coaches in the college football. with the exception of Bob Stoops and Beamer we need a younger coach who is willing to take chances and can motivate an under talanted team like the mustangs are right now to overachieve and win more games than they should sort of like what major did at rice last year. Btw anybody think Dirk Koetter might be a good idea?

yeah real easy to rip everybody else's choice without saying who specifically is your top choice.
Gimme a break........how brave you are!

im not sure urban meyer can be considered an up and comer when hired by florida. he had two prior head coaching jobs before landing at UF. about getting an up and comer, i think we've been through enough and the people want to see results by hiring a proven winner

ive said it once ill say it again, Major Applewhite should be the next coach at SMU, and SMU would be stupid if it didnt seriously consider Major for the job, i beleive he would be the best candidate . I really dont understand the majority of my oppenents on this outlook ok so he's never been a head coach. ok well he's a oc in the SEC and he was at UT for 6 years as a player and graduate assistant learning from Mack
brown one of the best college coaches ever easily the best recruicter in the state of texas.

we know where hes worked. but what would make him a goof coach? being an OC and grad assistant doesnt make me want him as our coach

how are glen mason and terry bowden proven winners if thats how you feel then shouldnt larry coker be the person we talk about he's the only coach available to go to win a national championship or coach a team thats not a subpar school

Coker = NOT A PROVEN WINNER...didnt win the title with "his people"...
neither did Bowden or mason...and i dont want any of them as the new coach

ive seen maybe two people say Mason and Bowden was coach of the year at Auburn in the SEC, a real conference.
Larry Coker hasn't been mentioned but a few times. i forgot who said it, but its the best way to describe it by saying: "he was given the keys to a lambourgini and ran it into a ditch"
meaning that he took Butch Davis's team to the championship and ran that program into the ground

if you want a proven winner, then the man is Frank Solich...
