He would be someone that I think could not only move us up a grade or two in recruiting, but also have a staff in place that would allow us to hopefully progress next year instead of going through the typical 5 years of rebuilding. He did it at TCU and he was a success at Alabama, and by golly if he takes us to 10-3 and then wants to walk out on us, I would thank him for the work he did and look forward to the next hire. Bring him on if he is to be the one.
I just disagree. I think he's a terrible X's and O's coach. He took a good quarter back and receiving corp at TAMU and decided to run the option. Only the only option appeared to be for the quarterback to run and get his head beat in. I think most of his success at TCU came from Tomlinson and while he was definitely successful at Alabama, he never had to win with players he recruited - and he couldn't do it at Alabama either. And just for the record, Tomlinson was at TCU when he got there too. I think he'd be a terrible hire, and his track record at TAMU suggest he can't put a staff together. Darnell was selling insurance when Fran found him....

Quote from Franchione just after taking over the TCU job and leading the Frogs to their finest three years since the 1930's:
"When you inherit a program that was maybe spiraling downward, one of the things you do is change the image, the mental psyche, the total plan. This is about the fifth program that was down that I have taken over as head coach in order to turn around. My job is to get rid of those things that lagged a team in the past and then move forward."

Seemed nobody wanted to take me serious since I had never posted. Well, I wasnt trying to waste your time or my own. I dont have enough time to get on here for the hell of it. I was trying to be helpful. Just fyi, I was told it could be done headed into this weekend. They are going to allow Nutt to announce he is taking the Ole Miss job and then we will follow with the Franchione announcement.
Why wait to allow Nutt to announce he is taking the Ole Miss job?

Not really. These are the same people that repeatedly post that Bennett "is a nice guy" as if it matters, and want us to only hire a squeeky-clean 'nice guy' coach.
If Fran can come in for a few years, built us into TCU and bolt for another school I'm just fine with that. We'll be in position to hire an even better coach at that point.

Color me giddy with excitement.
Easily the best coach in CUSA immediately and has ready access to a talented recruiting class. We could quickly pull together a Top 40 class with the A&M leftovers. Throw in the JUCO connection that he has with his son and we could be locked and loaded in short order for next season.

We already know his ego is too big for the Metroplex.

Not TCU. The frogs I've spoken to think it would be hilarious if we got stuck with Fran.
If the Frogs fans are thinking its funny in a mocking way, then it would appear that they quickly forgot that Fran was the one that got them going in their successful direction.
If it was Fran, bring him. This program needs a name with street cred.

Yeah, "nice guy" sure did get us far, didn't it? If he wants it and is reasonable, then why not? We could always have him bring his son in as OC and get some of that JUCO talent down at Blinn to help fill some holes. It's not like SMU is in a position to be choosy about the next coach it names. If he gets us back to respectibility and he bolts, so be it. It'll help us with finding someone to replace him because he'll have proved that we aren't a coaching graveyard. Just a thought.
FIVE? Really? by the time he was at TCU he had already turned around five schools? Wow!! I guess his record speaks for itself
