Are you dense enough to think that is what he has in mind when he says a deal has to be really "special" for him to leave his current diggs? Special = a few more bucks (they'll match our offer anyway) and hot chicks (he's 50, married with a daughter in high school.)
Get real.
There's a great article somenoe posted on PF interviewing Johnson's wife and daughter. It gives great insight on how PJ thinks. She is quoted at saying "just tell Paul he can't do it and he will want to prove you wrong." Or something to that point. What she was talking about was when PJ took the Navy job. Apparently everyone told him not to take the job, it was a dead in job and no one could win at Navy consistantly. Does that sound like the SMU job?
My point is most succuessful coaches have high opinions of themselves and there abilities. PJ has done everything he can do at Navy there's nothing more to prove. He's ready for a change and a new challenge.

Who knows.....
maybe he hates his boss
maybe his wife is not happy there
maybe his kids are not happy there
maybe he needs a change of scenery
maybe he likes warmer weather
maybe he wants a big new challenge
maybe he "clicks" with Orsini
maybe he loves being the "hero" & wants to do it here
Exactly. Who knows? You! You know! You know Paul Johnson and he tells you these things?! Hell no, you don't. So you ASSume all (or one) of these is true.
Actually, regarding warm weather, his daughter is on record saying she wants to live where it snows. Please, do research before posting something like that. http://navy.scout.com/2/676236.html
haha, well last time i checked it snows in Big D a lot more that in RDU area!!!
Really??
Raleigh averages 58 inches a year. Dallas averages 44 inches a year.

But, SMU is like climbing Mount Everest. There are some challenges that coaches you just say no to. They could kill you or damage you for life.

Big Daddy how long have you been around SMU football? If SMU is so damn bad why the hell are you on this board everyday. What keeps bringing you back? What brought JWill to SMU? Your his dad or uncle or sombody close to him apparently? You are the most negative person on this board. Things change and nothing is constant. Not even SMU losing. I remember when SMU beat TCU 19 out of 21 season, that changed didn't it. For those 20 years TCU had 2 winning seasons and probably no bowls. That job before Fran looked like "Mount Everest" as you put it. Did it change? How many bowl games has TCU been to in the last 10 years, a lot? Once the playing field is leveled as far as recruiting there's nothing TCU offers that's better than SMU. Thing will change here too. Now take your negative puke over to another board. I'm frankly tired of it!
Oh, I'm sorry you are tired of my negative puke. I will try and be a little more positive about 20 years of losing. I was around SMU football before you were born obviously, so I know the history and what we are capable of. I am on this board for the same reasons you are, because I can ever since the mental health clinic got the internet. I get to hang out on Ponyfans.com instead of chasing cars and washing windshields.

Wow. BigDaddy is in his late 60's and apparently the dimentia is setting in.

Thats what this board is, an opinion board. Everybody on this board is stating their opinions except you obviously! If my opinions bother you that much maybe you need to take a look at what I am saying. If its garbage let it go, move on. But you know I speak the truth. I have been on this board longer than what you realize 91. My ties to SMU run deeper than what you know. What are your ties?
