In the weeks leading up to today, the thought of Fran coming to SMU has made me want to vomit on several occasions (seriously, ive puked a little in my mouth)

BUT what we need given the trainwreck we are facing is recruiting... and based on who's out there, Fran is number 1 recruiting in Texas. I think he's our best bet given the options right now, especially if someone is going to have to save our current recruiting class that's 3 deep last i checked.

I think it is time we face it that Fran is a very good option for us. What do we have to lose. We can't hold it against him forever that he coached TCU. On top of that nobody else wants him, so we wont have to compete for him

I am definately without a doubt on the fence about Coach Fran. I was against him, but the TAMU win over Texas helped push me to the maybe column. When comparing our recruiting hurdles (admission standards, small, private school, recent football history), TCU is about as close as it gets. He did a good job for them. He can also have an immediate impact on our defense, which is where we really need the help. Say what you will about JW's fumbles and interceptions, but he put a lot of points on the board.

I have the feeling that a little winnning will change some minds.

I'm not in love with Fran. He's just a coach to me. Nothing more. I just want someone to come here and win. Is that asking so much? I think he can come here, win and recruit. When was the last time we saw that? Meyer? Collins?

no question, its a tough pill to swallow... i have hated him since, well, forever. no question it would stoke the rivalry at least. But even then, i will find it tough to get behind Fran when the Purple Faqqots come to town...

As long as we can get out of the toilet bowl, I dont think any of us would care who the coach turns out to be

What about if we are winning CUSA every year and going to bowl games? Would you really stay away just because of Fran?

Fran was not plan B, Johnson was plan B. Who knows what plan we are now on?

Didn't he inherit LDT as a recruit? I just wonder how much of his success was being in the right place at the right time. He did do well at Bama but that's a completely different beast, and I was not at all impressed with the job he did at A&M.

This is why we can't afford it. We need a coach with a pristine record in terms of violations.

i'm right there with ya bub....he S the bottom of the barrel...you can count on injury reports on our team for just 1200 bucks if we get him....and he was the coach at A&M! he's and underachiever who has never built up a program and is an utter failure .... if Fran gets offered Bennett should be too.
