Gee, those are nice sentiments. I welcome Coach Jones as well. I can't wait to see how nice you guys are when we lose our first game under Coach Jones. Coach have a huge task in front of you and I will be rooting for you to succeed, as I rooted for every other coach to succeed. I'll see you at the Navy game. Go Mustangs.

Coach Jones,
Welcome to the Hilltop!
The alumni are by and large ecstatic to have you with us. We know that within two to three years the Mustangs will be restored to our rightful place of prominence in college football generally, and dominance of Conference USA.
We hope and trust that your arrival coincides with a new attitude from the administration and Board of Trustees at SMU about doing what is necessary to compete in big-time college athletics. Our commitment to improving our facilities, our commitment to handsomely compensating our coaches, and the high quality of our academics make SMU a desirable destination for talented high school athletes, and SMU is geographically situated amidst the best high school football programs, with the best coaching and the best talent in the nation.
There is no reason, therefore, that SMU should not succeed, and we expect that reasonable accommodations to recruit exceptional athletes will be made, and can be made without damaging the lofty academic reputation of which all SMU alums are justifiably proud.
So, a lusty "howdy" and welcome to Texas football. We're delighted to have you on board and we look forward to great things.
