USC lost to Stanford torched IU who beat OSU. LSU lost to Kentucky and Arkansas. UGA had an unfortunate losses to Tenn and So. Carolina (neither team were slouches). Tenn almost beat LSU in the conference championship game. There were plenty of great teams this year and a playoff would have made for a much more interesting bowl season.

Ummm....you obviously missed the very first thing I said--I am totally for a playoff. All I was saying is that within the system we have, it was ridiculous for this guy to call LSU a bogus champion. The current system is based on the entire body of work through the season. One team lost 2 games in triple overtime (to at least mid-level SEC teams) and the others all had some significant--and a few pretty embarrassing--losses. Of course a playoff would be more interesting and I am all for it.

Playoff is the only way to find a true champ. BCS, by definition, is always going to be contrived and there will always be arguments about which team was snubbed.
