You've got a talent to understand the nuances of recruiting talent. Unfortunately, you continually waste your gift because you aren't grateful for it.

Here's a tip: Go watch a HS football game IN PERSON. In fact, go out and watch a season's worth. When you do that and give a first-hand eyeball evaluation.

When you can do that, let us know.

No way he would do that. He would rather see how somebody on Rivals, who also has not seen any of them play, rates them.

Funny...when they're first team all district, you find a way to discredit that.

exactly how did I do that. I did a complete search on the HP. kid that's about all there is. Not my fault he couldn't make First Team-there were 7 lineman on the First Team

he can definitely pack on about 35 lbs.. A 6'4 295 G... I would like to have a 310 guard.. but as Bobby Knight said, "Smart beats athletic"

Really in the grand scheme of things is 15 lbs really that big of a deal?

Heck if he doesn't work out as a guard, move him to center.. A 6'4 295 Center... now that is something to write home about..

Plus you put your dumb guys at G, you put your OL QB's at center..

Easy....that wasn't directed at Boyd. I've never even seen him play. I was mostly kidding with that comment.

Not sure if you were responding to me, but my comment about class wasn't directed at you - it was in reference to all the "class is important" people on this board.

I would like to take this opportunity to announce for the first time that according to Rivals this young man is taller than you are reporting. He is not 6-4 he is 6-4.3. That is all. (Actually his video ain't bad-looks like he's got good feet and could probably even carry substantially more weight).

He's a tackle on a team that plays a spread offense, that went to the 4A state championship, that had to protect a backup quarterback for half the season, and played for a high school program that has current offensive players at Virginia, SMU, Georgia and Texas Tech. The HP line has had college players the last few years: Reid Prince, Kelly Turner and now this guy. And as HP is consistently good, it can only help us as we get better that we have a shot at some of their better recruits.

Boyd will be a player

Post by Throwback »

Zach Boyd will be starting at SMU in two seasons. The kid's been groomed for years in a near-carbon copy offense. He can play. Don't know if he'll redshirt or not as a frosh, but he'll be in the starting mix from there on.
Boyd is a diamond in the rough. Look this post up in 2 years and tell me I'm wrong.
I'm old school, and can't help it.

The HP kids are really well coached and like the kids from Southlake, Allen and etc. usually are smart kids with great technique.

Welcome to SMU Zach!
