Can anyone clarify about DJ? I was positive he was playing TE for good. Did Hargis being hurt change things?

Urbanus is a stud.. hopefully Poulos will get his priorities straight. Otherwise, he should leave so we have another ship available. Are Burley and Boren being redshirted? Those two will be monsters!

Who are the d-line starters?

DJ was moved to LT last week. Current DT starters are Bonds and Adami. Hargis had no impact on the move of DJ. The move was more closely associated with Guidry's move to backup LG from tackle.

So, a summary:

- Starters on the O line:
LT Neal
LG Kieschnick
C Reindl
RG Hargis
RT Harris

- Urbanus is backup at RT.
- Eidson is backup RG.
- Turner is backup LG.
- Eidson is also backup C.
- Guidry is now third team LG.
- Johnson is now backup LT.
- Poulos is now third team RG.
- Morton is off the screen.
- The othr frosh are red-shirts.

- Starters on the D-Line:
DE: Williams, Stansbury
DT: Adami, Bonds

- Rogers backs up Williams.
- Glockzin backs up Stansbury.
- Denman, Karrington, and Jones are all in
the DT rotation. Berry might also fit in
and Bean is back at midseason.

re: offensive line summary exceptions

depending on the offensive productivity and w/l record, predict urbanus and eidson could crack the first team by mid season - regarding morton, he is not as "off the screen" as poulos, but has not established himself as a proven backup

the other thing to remember is that the prime backup guys can play multiple positions, i.e., urbanus could possibly move inside to G if needed and eidson can play either G position as well as center.

the travel squad for offensive lineman is generally 8 or 9 players.

So, all of the Oline backups are redshirt freshmen, except one true freshman (Turner) and one true sophomore (Eidson)? That is not ideal to say the least.

no pain, no gain. The future is bright.

Is Desmond Jones being redshirted?

I would be really surprised if Jones and Berry are not both redshirted. Only injury would change that i would think.

Bennett seems to indicate that both Jones and Berry will see playing time. At first, that is surprising. However, I think what will happen is that both stay active for the first couple of games, and then we will look at if Bean is actually coming back, and if Karrington is injured again before officially redshirting either one.

No pain, no gain? You're the one that said the fans should have expectancy to win this year. This is all semantics, but you can't have it both ways.

Where's Justin Boren in that list? I was under the impression that he was not going to redshirt.

when i said no pain, no gain i was not assuming that pain=loss. i was referring to growth of the individuals and the team.

we can win now . . . we will win now

Bennett says Jones, Bonds and Berry will have to play right away on the DL and also mentions Karrington & Denman in the rotation. Of course, Adami is our rock in the middle of that defense. Rogers and Glockzin will be in the DE rotation to back up Williams and Stansbury. Sounds like an attacking defense and as a group will be much stronger than what we had last year.

JasonB:

Here is what I think is the line up as of the last scrimmage:

LT-Neal/Urbanus
LG-Kieschnick/Guidry
C-Reindl/Eidson
RG-Hargis/Eidson
RT-Harris/Johnson

Urbanus would be starter at LT, but he has been out with a high ankle sprain.

Guidry is back up @ LG.

Johnson #58 (changed from #84), is back up at RT.

Dont know where Turner, Morton, Poulos stand. I would bet that Smith/Turner are 3rd team C, Turner/Poulos are 3rd team Gs, and Morton is 3rd team T.

Your rotation for DL is correct. Williams/Rogders and Stansbury/Glockzin.

Denman, Karrington, Bonds, Jones, Benson, and Berry are back up DTs. Berry and Benson can move to DE if necessary.
