Can you get rid of that damn phil bennett avatar? It's creeping me out. I might have to go back to Bea Arthur just to balance it out.

You must be jealous of the full mustache or the slightly receding hair helmet.

You should not talk about Bea Arthur in that manner.

I'd like to thank everyone for providing exactly the kind of responses I thought I would get.

If you knew people were going to give well thought-out, rational, reasonable responses to your ridiculous, treasonous assertions, why did you post them?
Because it's what I believe. I don't see my opinion as ridiculous or treasonous. I think as this project moves forward everyone at SMU needs to be aware of the problems it will have to overcome if it's to succeed here. Right now it appears to me that outside of the top brass at the school, many people who supported SMU's bid for the project are oblivious to the obvious problems this location has. There's a lot of unbridled optimism about this project without looking at the reality of the situation.
Just yesterday Gerald Turner revealed some of these problems. The biggest problem of all is that the school still does not have a set plan for this project. It's still dependant on the outcome of that silly lawsuit. That has to be settled before the school can really get started on this thing.
One of the supposed big selling points of SMU's location is that it's close to DART rail. Unfortunately, the rail station is across Central Expressway from the school. Turner wants to work with DART to get a pedestrian walk way built over Central to SMU. Considering DART's current financial mess, that seems unlikely unless SMU puts up pretty much all of the money for it. It won't be cheap. Get your checkbooks ready.

i actually didn't even read your post, just the thread title... i don't feel the need to get involved in any political debates. but if I must voice my opinion on the Bush library all I have to say is that I am excited we actually go it. I would be excited regardless of which President it was. I think it will add to the University, and just another thing that SMU can add to it's resume.

So why did this happen?
2. The first lady went to SMU
The obvious and logical reason.
