Practices were great. PB is a great defensive mind despite his record at SMU. You need talent and we dont have but a few talented players. Copeland screwed this thing up on purpose, ( and I hope he is feeling beter, heard he was under the weather). He hired two coaches knowing they would not last through their contract. PB did because O had no replacement at the time any better. The BB coach before DOH signed a 4 year contract, making sure he would not get to coach any of his 5th year seniors. Copeland was fed up and left us in terrible shape.

Jones brought in two coaches on the defensive side of the ball that have been DC's at the I-A level. On the staff now is a former NFL head coach. Also on the staff is a guy that was the head coach of both an NAIA school and a CFL team. And Jones. And every body else has been on at least one other I-A staff. I would say on paper, this staff has more experience.

Not too good a strategy at a private school like SMU.

He actully was dismissed from the team after completing the requirements of the suspensions. Hudman was told by the DB coach that he did not know how to relate to Bryce. This is what I heard? Can you imagine a coach of any kind not knowing how to relate to a player. Sounds like a Bill Parcels power struggle, where the coach always wins, but loses in the end. We dont have enough PLAYERS to lose people like Hud. If we don't win in the next couple of years ................

Time will tell with JJ. How many criminals (as some of you say) will JJ bring in to revamp this program?quote]

Let me ask you this question?

Would you rather have a sold out stadium every week and a national title?
Or a high graduation rate and 1 and 11 season every year?

Criminals play great ball LOL

How about the former with a decent graduation rate and less arrests than recruits

Your a bigger idiot than I thought if you really think we can take a scholarship away on the sole means that our DB coach cant RELATE with a player. [/b]

And YOU'RE no Fullbright Scholar yourself, apparently.

A coach "not being able to relate to the player" is code for "the kid was a disruptive A-hole and I couldn't figure out how to get him to not be a disruptive A-hole."

Wow - that's the spirit.
Coach Doherty has recruited better players, and nearly the entire team was freshmen this year. They are simply growing up at this point. Probably won't win a lot more games this year, because of the loss of Killen and Roberts, but we'll be more competitive in a lot of losses and next year we start smacking some folks around when Papa Dia, Alex Malone, Robert Nyakundi, etc., are juniors.
