(Seeing as this thread is entitled Chip Brown - and he was a tennis player who then later covered Wimbledon, this is germane - I have my TV on in the background. About an hour ago Andy Roddick beat a guy last named Schwank. I don't know his first name as I have the volume down.... but that had to be a fun name to say while calling the broadcast. Heck that's a good last name for one my "characters".... "Yeah, Chip, this is Donnie Schwank...")

Thank you, mr. pony. Cal was definitely NOT overrated that year. I believe that was 2004 when USC demolished the undefeated Big 12 champion OU, 55-19.

And I'll never forget Mack Brown whining like a 2 year old about possibly not getting an invite to the RB.

Chip was a walk on tennis player. The team was very good back in the mid 80s...Renenberg, Ross brothers, et al. He was also a member of the best fraternity on campus, Alpha Tau Omega and wrote for the DC.
