I know it's hard to get a focus on players from no pad/no helmet drills but I may be able to shed a little light on Evan since he's a family member (my sister's son) and I try and catch up with him by phone from my home in Austin every couple of days.

Latest report is that he's doing fine in class (two summer school classes) and on the field. He's working out in the weight room with the upper classmen (reported to school after 2 months with a personal trainer - and was ready for the weight room) and he's definitely benefitting from his planning and prepping. He's lost 12 pounds since reporting and wants to lose another 20 before opening day in August at Rice. He has no illusions about starting but his philosophy is to be ready if he is needed. Word from the d-coaches is that they are pleased with how Ev showed up motivated and "in shape" but Ev knows he has some work to do to move some of his gut weight to his arms and leg muscles. His wrestling experience is going to help him in a big way!

His mom got all his patches finally for his Servite varsity jacket so both arms are full. I believe his mom will be wearing it more than Ev though. Ev's mom and dad found a house they like in Grandburry and will be making the move soon. Just close enough to Ev. Ev's mom and dad, my wife and I will be making the trip to Rice in August for the opening game. I'm getting my SMU gear together. See everyone there who's planning to go!

That's about it. I'll post more info as I get it - and if it's worth posting.

Welcome to PonyFans.com, UOE!

Evan is an impressive-looking guy. He might want to move some of his weight up to his arms (don't we all??), but I'm not worried about his legs being strong enough. I've heard he has legs like tree trunks, and if he squats over 500 pounds already as a freshman (as PonyPride reported), then he's a strong young man!

Thanks - Absolutely his arms are huge too but nothing like his legs. If you get a chance to see him close up you'll wonder looking at his thighs - like tree trunks - huge tree trunks. On the d-line this will for sure help him move the pile around and get into the backfield quickly!

Whatever happened to that dude who implied that jtstang's opinion meant nothing because he had never "laced up the cleats and stepped between the lines." What was his name, I can't remember. I miss that guy.

Was it me? If so it was only in the heat of the moment probably the first time he tried to take one of my seats. Things are much better now.

I still have a feeling that Willis will be riding pine at the start of the Rice game. I hope I'm wrong.

I think maybe the steriods finally made his wee-wee fall off.

I respectfully disagree. And I know you hope (but do not expect) me to be right.
