I like maybe everybody else really don't have a clue as to who will be able to perform in the new offense and I sure don't know if the aggressive, gambling defense can stop enough plays to offset the big plays they are going to miss. That said, here goes my best guess: 4-8. I think we will beat Rice (just a hunch), TX State, Tulane, & Memphis. We could upset some other teams (TCU or Tech) if they take us lightly and we have some extraordinary luck. These players have a history of playing close the teams they are supposed to loose big to and loosing big to the teams they are supposed to beat. Hopefully the new coaching staff can change that mentality and they will play close the ones that are much better than they are and beat the ones they are supposed to.

7-5, beating Rice, Texas State, TCU, Tulane, UCF, Navy and S. Miss. oUr losses Tech, Tulsa, Houston, Memphis and UTEP. I looked mainly at how we stack up against these teams, I don't really think it makes any difference who wins starting positions, JJ will have the best team on the field.

Wow,

This is first time in a long time I see most people being realistic, Early August is usually the time of Eternal Sunshine on this board with everyone predicting a bowl.

I am going to go with 4-8 and will predict that we will have a couple of nice upset wins but will also drop a couple that we thought we might win going in.

I just hope one of those nice upsets is TCU.

6-6

Losses to TT, UCF, Tulsa, Houston, Navy, and Texas Western

.500 for Year One will be a great start for things to come.

By the time my daughter leaves SMU we shall be Bowling.

I am, optimistic as always, going to go with 7-5. I feel that this year will see us beat Houston. I think that we will have so much energy at the Rice game that it is a real opportunity, and we should win against Texas State. I think that Memphis and Southern Miss, coming at the end, when we have had a chance for everyone to get comfortable will be very winnable. I think we lose to Tech and UCF. And given our horrible away form, I think that Tulane and Navy will be losses, Tulane because it is early in the season, and Navy because it will just be a difficult game. I then think that we win two of UTEP, Tulsa, and TCU.

If we lose to Rice though, I think 5-7.

Wins - Tx State, Tulane, Memphis, Rice, Utep

For sure loss - Tech (one word -Crabtree), UCF (very improved), Tulsa (loaded), Navy (away - sorry)

Likely loss - TCU, S. Miss, Houston

With my eternal optimist hat on I think we only lose two of the three likely losses so that would put us at 6 and 6. 5-7 very possible.

I think 6-6 is possible, depends how much the D improves. I would not be surprise to see them pull off a surprise win later in the season and go 7-5.

We were a few plays from 6-6 last year. With an experienced head coach like Jones and with a improved Special Teams focus (which were an afterthought with Bennett), we might just find those plays. There will unfortunately be a learning curve early. However, I think we have better talent than 1-11 showed last year. We did get some JUCO's which will help. My guess is that we go 6-6. We beat Texas State, UTEP, Rice, Tulane, Tulsa, and Memphis. Navy without Johnson may be different despite just promoting the assistant. That game could be interesting. UH with a new coach and scheme as well, may be a place for a surprise. I don't see us beating TCU, USM or UCF.

Wins: Rice, SWTSU, Tulane, Houston, Memphis
Loses: Tech, TCU, UCF, Tulsa, Navy, UTEP, Southern Miss

Two chances at the end of the season to get to bowling and it doesn't happen: allowing me to graduate without a bowl game. dammit.
