I'm just upset I missed all four rotations. I saw her vault -- mysterious scoring there -- and her uneven bars. I missed floor and beam. I fell asleep. But I woke up just in time when she saw the score that gave her the gold.
A tremendous feat in a sport that demands so much. Proud to have her part of the SMU family. Proud that she represents the United States.

Really? Now you're a gymnastics fan/expert? You're UPSET that you missed a gymnastics competition? She's a great athlete. Glad she's going to SMU. But there's not one of us on here who can decipher a "curious score" when none of us watches this stuff more than once every four years, and many of us don't watch it then.George S. Personally, I can't bring myself to watch any of that stuff - gymnastics, figure skating, even diving (which I actually like) - because it's subjective. I'm sure the judges don't try to be biased, but it's human nature to do so, at least a little.
Maybe this kid deserved the gold, maybe she didn't. I didn't watch, and like the rest of us on here, I wouldn't know if she deserved it or not unless she messed up so badly by falling that even a layman could tell she didn't deserve it. Good job. Glad she won. Glad she's one of ours, both as a school and a country. But if she competed in a sport some of us know about or care about, it would be a lot more exciting.
