He sure has started off well, JJ looking good with the early offer.

so their recruiting class includes two top LBs...this guy and Brock. We could use a class like that.

I would take at least 14 out their 15 recruits in a hearbeat. One of their lower rated recruits is a great looking Safety with at least 9 offers. I'm sure he will be upgraded to 3 stars.

How is TCU doing it???

By TCU's own standards, this is a real improvement over years' past.

What has changed...

Nice class, but I don't know that this is that much of an improvement. They've been outstanding in recruiting for a long time now.

This is easily the best since at least one of Franchione's classes which was very good-maybe the best since Wacker if they keep it going. This is a big step up from even the better TCU classes of the last 10 years or so. I believe the highest previous non-BCS class was about 38 last year by Southern Miss. This is a deep, quality class. For some reason TCU was one of the last schools to stress early commitments and even appeared to try to keep commitments confidential which I think has hurt their momentum to an extent in past. This class has been so good so fast that it has snowballed.

This rankings business is ridiculous. It's not a criticism of the kind of athletes the schools are getting. But when you have about 5-plus months to go and a good number are still incomplete, I don't see the point of them until mid-late December or even early January.

But whatever will draw enough water cooler talk....

Are you sure about that Chief Knocka-Homer? 72% of the Texas Top 100 has committed. Many schools have essentially completed their recruiting classes or at least a substantial portion.

You read what I wrote so I guess you didn't trip over anything.

You still have a heavy month of visits in December and there are a lot of kids are still taking unofficial visits during the college football season who are being recruited but have not made a decision.

There are also too many DI prospects that are sending films to their interested schools as we speak so they can make a call to either offer or commit.

And I enjoy being a homer for my alma mater....because...oh, I don't know...I went there! Appreciate the compliment.

Surprised So. Miss isn't higher. I wonder if they are waiting to pick up all the grade risk decommits from the SEC schools. Is that what they did last year.

I have a lot of faith in Fedora.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I'll take a stab at it. TCU started off the recruiting season by holding a highly successful Junior day with a select group of recruits that went extremely well and made a good impression on guys like Pachall and Horn. We had not done this before, and I think its safe to say we will be doing it from here on out. In the past Patterson had lagged behind in the early recruiting game, not anymore.

I think the next thing that you can point to is the facility and campus upgrades. The new dorms and student center are fantastic and are getting great reviews from the recruits as are the indoor facility and the south endzone facility with its luxury boxes and top grade team meeting rooms. The sum of all of these upgrades means that recruits are seeing that this is a program and a campus that the university is investing in and we can point to future stadium rennovations as well.

I think that some of the newer assistants are better recruiters than some that we have had in the past as well. Our previous CB coach, Coach McMillan was a great coach, but couldn't recruit very well at all. The new coach, Jennings, seems to be a big improvement.

Other factors, luck and some family ties. Tanner Brock's brother plays for the Frogs. John Woolridge's family is full of Frogs. Waymon James is a huge LT fan. The stars just really seemed to have lined up for us this year.

TCU's class is superb. The Frog above talked about facilities...that means a lot. TCU has also been winning for about a decade.

USM signed some academic risks last year. Their stud receiver qualified - but realize he had to pass 2 correspondence courses to get qualified. If you carefully select your academic risks, it could work out.

Most of the highly regarded players signed by c-usa schools are skill players. That's where the ability of a staff to evaluate talent comes in - find the linemen who are 2 star, but have 3 star ability. (or even better, sign 3 star linemen across the board - but no one's done that - TCU is just starting to among the non-BCS schools).
ECU's recruiting has been mediocre per the ratings - they have the best team in the league because they have easily the best DL and probably the best OL.

I am just curious, how many recruits (commitments) are they listing for SMU? I remember that we had listed about 15-16 on the board, and this week one of the assistant coaches said they now had over 20. I asked 20? he said over 20. Anyone have an idea?
