I feel like the offense was running much better at the beginning when we just used Lee/McKinney. Leave this guy on the bench for the rest of the year, please! It is infuriating to watch him get those shovel passes and just kinda walk around until he gets hit. He is lazy and he is terrible - bad combo.
DM is the only upperclassman we have who has tried to demonstrate some leadership and be a positive influence on all the truly young players. He practices hard, has a great work ethic and really wants to win. Yes, it is obvious that he is not one of the fastest or quickest backs; however, most of the few plays that he has been afforded were almost doomed from the onset as the defenses were on top of him with little opportunity to do anything. His greatest and unappreciated value is that of a blocker. It is obvious that the O line has been pushed around by everyone this year, yet they have remarkably held up well enough for the backfield to actually execute most of the time. A large measure of this success is Martin picking up the stunts, blitzes and making up for some of the line mistakes. I think it is glaringly obvious that the coaching staff has quickly realized his strengths and limitations and are using him predominantly as a blocker. If this were not the case, B.J. Lee would have not played for the first time in the UCF game, Butler's name would not be heard and McKinney would not be scoring TDs. Lay off the emotional garbage re Martin and start watching the games and the adjustments that are ongoing and being effected by the coaching staff.

I have heard or read that the kid has pain in both knees caused by tendonitis and has had the pain since high school. This slows you down quite a bit.

He had a great Freshman year and then was hurt early in his Sophomore year and has not been effective as a running back since. He does contribute as a blocker, but the team would be better served to slip Butler in every once in awhile. I do not understand how someone as big and strong as everyone says Martin is can't break at least one tackle. The only play I recall this year where he looked like a running back was the sweep he scored on.

I don't know what the deal is, but Butler doesn't seem to get the attention of the coaches as much as I would have thought. I mean, didn't McKinney get the start on Saturday with B.J. Lee coming in right off the bat? I hate to just take myself out of the discussion, but it seems to me that there's something to Butler that the Coaches don't approve of.
