And don't get me started with supply and demand vis a vis the media...that just brings everyone down to the lowest common denominator.

you started with the supply and demand argument.
I want them to support the home team whose fans buy their bloody newspaper.

All I'm saying is that they already support the fans who buy the paper now, which happen to be Big 12 fans, much more so than SMU fans.

Can I first say that NOTHING takes the mind off a declining global economy like a Friday afternoon p***ing match. I was not saying that SMU fans outnumber the Big 12 fans, just that Dallas has the greatest concentration of SMU fans anywhere, so the only paper in a position to cater for those fans is the DMN. And, while it is free to cover the other teams whose alum litter the city, it should prioritize SMU because again, it is the only paper in a position to do so.

At this point, JT, I am going to request any further discussion happen somewhere where I can get a pint.

I would only question why he thinks that we only score 13. Must still be stuck in that TT game. 8)

Exactly. It is about selling newspapers. There are a lot more Texas, A&M, and Tech. alumni who buy papers than SMU alumni. Should the DMN cover the local sports team more? Yes. It is frusterating but a reality. It would be nice to see a big story on JJ and his thoughts so far about the one win season or a story on Bo Levi.....anything would be nice but do not count on it.

I don't want to know what these numpties "believe." ..................................................................................... It would hurt nothing to let the kids know that some people don't believe they will be sliced, diced, and wrapped in rice.

Do you see the contradiction between your own first and last sentences in that paragraph?

If there are people out there who dont believe the "kids" will be sliced and wrapped, etc., then it doesnt appear that many of them work at the DMN, so you're S.O.L.

I remember when June Jones was hired, you immediately predicted SMU would win 7 games the next year and go to a bowl game. Do you still "believe" that? Are you asking me to believe it, as well? If so, once again S.O.L.

"Do what I want, because nobody else will!" is not a compelling argument, and I dont think it will get you very far with the editors at the DMN. Keep us posted on how that works out.

Finally, a point on which we can agree. Booze-the great equalizer.

Man, what are you talking about? The DMN has given us way more love than we deserve this year. In fact, they have gone overboard in my opinion in covering JJ and our team. Every weekend it seems they give us the top of the front page...or of the college section. Do you think Rice or U of H get covered more than UT in Houston? No. Do you think Northwestern gets more coverage in Chicago than U of Illinois? No.

I've been very pleased with the volume of coverage from the DMN this year. Much more than in past years.

Last time I checked this was a forum for opinions related to SMU football. I have my opinions which are, shockingly, different from those of others on this board. I may be S.O.L. on many things but I am not trying to achieve a goal, just express my opinions. The only way I will be S.O.L. this evening is if they've run out of Guinness.

Maybe we could get the DMN to start publishing the Bottom Ten article so we could get more coverage.

Unfortunately that would mean that UNT would be getting more coverage in the DMN as well.
