That's right, when you commit an NCAA violation, the smartest thing you can do is tell the media about it, and then brag about it in a blog on the school's website. Nice move.[/quote]

LOL, what is going on already.[/quote]

NCAA Bylaw 17.1.6.3.2.1 Practice Prohibited after Competition. Practice may not be conducted at any time (including vacation periods) following competition.

If it lasted an hour and a half, as mentioned in the blog, it also violated the daily time limits for mandatory participation. Two secondary violations for the price of one.[/quote]

Not a student of the rules, but how is "competition" defined? The way this reads it sounds like it is referring to a season rather than any specific game.[/quote]

No, it's not a season, it's a single day:

17.02.5 Date of Competition. A date of competition is a single date on which any game(s), match(es), meet(s), exhibition(s), scrimmage(s) or joint practice session(s) with another institution’s team takes place, regardless of its formality, between an intercollegiate athletics team or individual representing a member institution and any other team or individual not representing the intercollegiate athletics program of the same member institution.

[quote="Pony_Fan"]Is running considered practice? :D[/quote]

If it's mandatory and supervised by the coaching staff, yes.

Doherty never explicitly said it was the same day. I'm thinking it was 12:01am or maybe even the next afternoon.

My coach always gave us the "option" to run when we weren't supposed to be practicing. Funny how that always worked out.

Hmmmm...what kind of computer or browser are you using XtC? I can get the quote function to work for me when quoting your posts with other quotes in them, but when you quote someone it doesn't show up correctly. Very weird. :? Not that it makes a rat's [deleted] difference...just curious.

I have often wondered the same thing about X's posts. It actually does bug me because I can't easily figure out where the other guy's thoughts end and his begin.

He probably doesn't have BBCode turned on. He needs to go to his profile and turn it on.

"Special Guest"

On Friday, we had a tall visitor to our practice today!

NBA great Dikembe Mutombo came by practice today to observe and talk to the players. SMU alum Paul Loyd set this up for us as he has helped Dikembe with some of his charity work. Dikembe was in town for a function and worked his schedule out so he could visit our practice. It was a thrill for all of us. Dikembe delivered a great message to the team. The message included topics such as â€" discipline, networking, education, hard work, focus, sacrifice, giving back, attire…. He especially connected with Bamba, to no surprise, as they are both big men from Africa! He took Bamba aside and talked about rebounding, diet, weight training, blocking shots. It was a terrific visit. We appreciate Paul and Dikembe making this happen.

I hope you enjoy the pictures. Note the picture of Bamba and Dikembe talking with Papa Dia strangling Justin Haynes in the background. Our players really do get along!! LOL!!

Dikembe is from the John Thompson school of rebounding. One thing the Hoyas were always good at was rebounding. So, hopefully whatever he told Bamba and Papa were taken to heart.

Webbies. Delete StangBry's post as it could be detrimental to our hoops program!

StangBry, are you a hoops team groupie? Be very, very glad Jwill isn't on the b-ball team.

More time coaching/preparing for games.........less time blogging!

From what I read, it appears that our rebounders didn't listen to Dikembe either.
