I don't think Porter has qualification issues but generally with respect Louisiana Tech(applies to Southern Miss as well)consider:

a)Louisiana has an unbelievable amount of prospects-as many as any state in the country per capita
b) many many of those kids have qualification issues
c) many may not qualify
d) NCAA allows non-qualifiers to enroll in such schools-just can't be on scholarship
e) non-qualifiers have to pay their own way
f) most non-qualifiers are not for families that can afford a private school like Tulane
g) non-qualifers can enroll in state schools with low general student body academic standards and still receive some state aid
h) in state tuition to a state school for one year is much cheaper than private or out of state schools
i) now is it beginning to make a little bit more sense how Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, Fresno can have and advantage in getting their in state non-qualifiers to help their recruiting Classes.?

This may require several steps of logic to which some of you may not be up to or well equipped to understand :lol:

Louisiana Tech is finally turning their athletic program around. This should be one of the best recruiting classes in over a decade. Dooley is putting a winning product on the field, as well as spending money to upgrade facilities.

Congrats to La Tech, but, I'm sure a small town like Ruston, with a low academic reputation, is less intimidating to some kids. And don't kid yourself, if Dooley has another season like last year, he will be waving goodbye. I have been to Ruston, well, let's be nice, and just leave it at that. As for the stadium? Oh my, does the lipstick on a pig adage, ever apply better?

Come on man, LaTech is a Tier 4 institution. That's Texas Tech range. And New Orleans might as well be in the third world. Most horribly managed city outside of Detroit, and full of the laziest culture I've ever encountered. Why anyone would live there is beyond me.

LaTech has 1 Juco 3 Star and 8 high school 3 Star Rival recruits. 7 out of the 8 3 star high school recruits are from Louisiana. I would imagine our recruiting with local recruits will improve once we go to a Bowl game also.
