I don't think Porter has qualification issues but generally with respect Louisiana Tech(applies to Southern Miss as well)consider:
a)Louisiana has an unbelievable amount of prospects-as many as any state in the country per capita
b) many many of those kids have qualification issues
c) many may not qualify
d) NCAA allows non-qualifiers to enroll in such schools-just can't be on scholarship
e) non-qualifiers have to pay their own way
f) most non-qualifiers are not for families that can afford a private school like Tulane
g) non-qualifers can enroll in state schools with low general student body academic standards and still receive some state aid
h) in state tuition to a state school for one year is much cheaper than private or out of state schools
i) now is it beginning to make a little bit more sense how Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, Fresno can have and advantage in getting their in state non-qualifiers to help their recruiting Classes.?
This may require several steps of logic to which some of you may not be up to or well equipped to understand

Congrats to La Tech, but, I'm sure a small town like Ruston, with a low academic reputation, is less intimidating to some kids. And don't kid yourself, if Dooley has another season like last year, he will be waving goodbye. I have been to Ruston, well, let's be nice, and just leave it at that. As for the stadium? Oh my, does the lipstick on a pig adage, ever apply better?

I've get off your high horse if I were you. Congratulations for having just as many winning seasons this decade as Louisiana Monroe.
yeah, but would you rather go 2-22 and live in Dallas, or go 2-22 and live in Monroe? C'mon, man.

1. We need SMU fans to legitimize us? That's funny, I remember coming to Dallas to watch us kick the crap out of y'all not too long ago....and now we were in a bowl game and you were 1-11.
2. We had TWO props in the last two years and neither one got on the field. (that's for you stallion) No advantage for Dooley there. Fresno's Pat Hill has a no-prop policy (or has the last handful of years).
3. Rufus Porter is not the least bit "intimidated" by Dallas. He's from the New Orleans area. Duh.
4. Dallas has positives (my wife is from McKinney...) but please remember there are positives and negatives when comparing large metroplexes with small towns.
5. If Dooley leaves that's because he's doing a great job and Tech is headed in the right direction. It means he's winning. Winning is always fun. The program will be in good shape if Dooley leaves, thus allowing the next great coach to come in and succeed. Boise keeps losing their coach and they seem to be doing fine.
6. Our academics are just fine, especially in engineering. You won't find us ranked at the top of the country but strangely the top companies are all over our graduates anyways (Exxon, Chevron, Kimberly Clark, P&G, etc).

Come on man, LaTech is a Tier 4 institution. That's Texas Tech range. And New Orleans might as well be in the third world. Most horribly managed city outside of Detroit, and full of the laziest culture I've ever encountered. Why anyone would live there is beyond me.
