If Missouri State can get this, than surely SMU can upgrade a little bit:
Our new scoreboard is fine. There's no way we could fit an even bigger one in.
1). Move the blue seats behind the benches - and let the students fill the section where the blue seats are now - visitors can sit up high like we do an time we go to another arena. Make what is currently the blue seats a huge section of bench seating for students. Just go look at any ACC gym and do what they do. You can reduce the number of blue seats by moving them - but increase the ticket price - and give first choice to those that come to the game - thats right - take attendence. Plenty of seats up in the bowl for people who are not going to come anyway.
2) Figure out how to get student seating opposite the band all the way across that end of the court - and move the ridiculous teered "media" seating either back behind this area or better yet just lose it - that is all feaux media and friends of hangers on anyway - it is crazy to give them such premium seating when our students should be there.
We are not going to have good student attendence until we give them a good place to sit - and we will not be a big time program until we make it about the students before the donors - and this is coming from a donor not a student.

1) Move the benches across the floor. ACC schools that put students along the baseline put those students in a position where they are seen on the TV cameras...watch a Duke game and you will see what I mean. That will eliminate having to move the blue seats across the floor as well.
2) They can't fold those bench seats out because the basketball floor sits on top of the volleyball floor. When they put in the new basketball floor, they didn't actually take the old floor out...they just laid the new floor on top. That elevation makes it impossible to fold the bench seats on that side out (seems to me like there was a lack of foresight when they decided to put in a new floor at Moody).
that old excuse about the pull out bleachers is lame. Get new bleachers then - or retrofit the old ones for 10k and pull them out -
dont really follow you on the other comment - my suggestion is to move the students to where the blue seats are - making the student section much bigger - and move the blue seats to where they are smaller since we obviously dont need as many as we have - create more demand by limiting supply.
i always thought the cameras were facing the bleachers where the students currently sit? i heard from someone during football that students can't be directly behind the visitors bench? that's why there is a break in that area behind the visitors on the pull-out bleachers.

That's why I think that the best solution is to move the team benches to the other sideline. Let the students have that entire section of bench seating over there.
you tell me where the student section is. is it across from the benches facing the camera? is it behind the benches with their backs to the camera? it's not like Moody where the older fans are sitting down across from the bench. the cameras are facing the benches, with the students behind them.
DID YOU NOT NOTICE HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE THERE!? HAVE PEOPLE SHOW UP AND MAKE NOISE LIKE A BBALL GAME SHOULD, AND THIS IS A MOOT POINT!
and we are not Duke! why don't you look to see what Rice, UAB, Marshall, and other schools comparable to us are doing? otherwise, we might as well do what UNC, Kansas, and Kentucky are doing as well.

The student section is across from the benches, facing the camera. It is also behind the goal that the shot went into. The "older fans" sit behind the benches and above the Crazies on the side where the crazies sit.
Besides, what happened to your original argument about this?
you can't move the team benches because the cameras don't want the back of the team. they want the shot of the coach and players fronts.
