Even more refreshing is the realization by it appears most Ponyfans that the previous football coaches basically started with a list of potential recruits most of which weren't even in the top half of the Texas recruiting pool. There's been a lot of self-deception around here for about 20 years of just how poor our recruiting classes have been. Again, SMU has a better recruiting plan, better academic Model , is better prepared and more aggressive in recruiting than in any year since the DP. This is going to pay off in the long term. And I'd say the same thing about Doherty too-in the long term I still think the same ingredients will pay off. But I believe in Program Building which involves a 4-5 year window which may take some patience. In my opinion the real obstacles to building the program are pretty much gone.

I wouldn't argue that point of all. The biggest obstacle SMU fans have to overcome is the impatience now the restrictions have been removed.
I believe many feel that since we are more on a competitive playing field, we want it turn around with a snap of a finger. Deep down, we're just going to have to let the process take care of itself and see what it nets.
We've been patient for 20 years. What's a couple more?

This should calm those who thought we were only going to recruit Dallas and Houston from now on.

There is another guy we are interested in out of Florida. For those with a PP subscription check out this weeks Pony Express. His video is awesome. Love his quote about what he has heard about the girls at SMU

I think the writer meant he was above the NCAA clearinghouse minimum.

Quick release, accurate passer. Very athletic. Little bit of a side armer. I'm impressed.
