this is why I dont put money on brackets. and if i did, I think my brackets would look much more conventional
i guess...considering they won the regular season title in a somewhat weak year for the Pac10 but couldnt even win their tounament should have been a sign...

i do give it to their big man down low...he had a HUGE game

13 of 16 remaining, all final four still alive. The big tests will be next weekend when hopefully UConn faces Memphis and OU squares off against UNC. I have Memphis and OU advancing along with Louisville and Pitt.

I dont put alot of stock in conference tournaments. If 1 person gets hot in a basketball game, it often changes the outcome of the game. Since they don't play a series of games, there is a "any given sunday" atmosphere. A single player in basketball can have a larger impact on a game than in any other major sport. Anybody can beat anybody (within reason) in a single basketball game. Im not saying every round should be a series, theres just no time for that, and a think the NCAA tourney is a very fair way to crown a champ, but it does allow a less talented team to knock out some powerhouses from time to time (not this year, though).

sorry, all that to defend how little emphasis I put on conference tournaments.
still, washington was a long shot, i know.

ps - screw purdue

15 of 16 remaining- pickedeverything pretty straight laced.

This round we will see how my make or break pick turns out- Xavier over Pitt. Everything could come unglued there if Pitt makes a deep run in the tourney, which I think is very possible. Also, I have Nova beating Duke but really want Duke to win. I hate the struggle between rooting for your bracket versus the team you like!

no need to defend yourself on not putting emphasis on conference tourneys.
