I believe Jeffcoat Junior isn't even considering UH in his recruitment though. please correct me if I am wrong there.

you might be right, but Ice Jr. started out at Auburn before ending up with his dad at UH. no matter what they say, where dad is usually ends up being a serious factor at least.

I think it is a very good move by Memphis. He has the recruiting contacts as well as his Dad's and he has been learning the craft from some very good coaches the past several years...................

Looks like hiring Pastner didn't pan out as much as Memphis had hoped as all their high powered recruits are following Cal to Kentucky and even one is leaving to Walk on.

Memphis is pretty distraught, they are going to be really depleted next year, Calipari is the devil in their eyes.

Its all over the Memphis boards and media, guess it is not generating the national media, seems very unethical but legal I guess. The top 5 LOIs/verbals have all opted out, and most are heading to Kentucky, although one may end up at Kansas.

Poor Memphis, went from having one of the best recruiting classes in the history of the NCAA to barely even being able to put five guys on the court.

As I said in the other thread, my guess is they have at most 6 returning players next year. Maybe a redshirt or two comes back, but other than that they need some serious bodies to fill up their roster. Pastner better get his but in gear and find somebody.

What are the Henry Boys going to do if their dad has taken the job for Pastner.

I think Kentucky should have to go by the Kentucky Tigers if they are playing with Memphis' squad.

Supposedly, it will make no difference as they have made up their minds to go, regardless.

I heard from a Kansas co-worker that Papa Henry was offered the job but has not accepted the job. Guessing they are gone too!

Calipari obviously had a great record at Memphis of winning games. It is hard to convince other coaches to come in and follow a highly successful run like that. Memphis made the type of hire that they probably had to make at this point in time.

On a side note, this is a bad deal for C-USA if this results in the Memphis program dropping off. Memphis brought some national prestige the league through their success in men's basketball. Without them there is not much else in the way of high profile showcase programs.

I don't think its a bad deal for the conference.
Memphis will be ok. I wouldn't write them off just yet.

Memphis will be okay.
Memphis will probably not be elite any longer.

Bad deal for the conference.

It's still a one bid conference, possibly 2 now, just not as lopsided. I like Pastner and think he could be a star, but this levels the playing field
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

Just saw this today. Taggart has declared for the NBA draft (but hasn't hired an agent). If he does end up leaving that leaves them with even less returning experience.
