If Stallion's premise is correct, I can understand why he might not want it released yet. He is getting slammed right now for keeping it quiet, but I can assure you if he were to do as PonyDoh suggests, and then loses the kid, he would be slammed for not being smart enough to keep the commit quiet. I can see both sides of the arguement.
Silent verbals don't exist in men's hoops, a modern day recruiting farce. What would Doh tell this kid? Kid, we want to keep your verbal silent, we're afraid bigger & badder schools will sweep you off your feet. Sure Coach Doh, I'd hate it if a Big 10 school offered me. Also kid, don't tell anyone you have 3 years eligibility left. In case no one has figured it out, everything about the way our staff conducts business is odd
Ok. So Stallions premise is not correct according to you. Then what is going on? I really don't have any idea and what Stallion put forth sounded reasonable. Since you are so adamant that this is not a "silent verbal", you must have some opinion on what is going on.
It's just Doh being Doh, a control freak. Looks like the kid gave a verbal, not a soft verbal, and the staff is paranoid of poachers. Lots of cloak and dagger for a kid that isn't regarded as an elite prospect. Its presumptuous to think our staff is so much more researched then others, that we know the kid has 3 years left, and no one else does. Also, by not coming clean w/the verbal, how do the schools that would have backed off, know to back off. Has the kid shut it down b/c he's honoring a verbal he gave the staff, or is he still listening to suitors?
The only way any of this makes sense is if he's given a verbal, but his grades/transcripts haven't cleared admissions. Even if that were the case, 99% of all media outlets still report the verbal.

it sounds like to me you have no idea what you're talking about and might want to look at the situation a little closer before assuming the recruiting sites are the ones that are inaccurate here.
it sounds to me that YOU are SPECULATING as to what someone else is or is not doing.

Boring Pointless thread.
As long as Doh and the recruit are on the same page, the rest is pointless.

That's flat out wrong. I happen to know for a fact that the story was legit and that staff muscled its way into getting the story pulled off the boards.
On one hand I commend them for getting this kid. On the other it doesn't say a lot about their confidence that they will keep him.
BTW, Matt do you think you and your staff could mix in a recruit from the DFW area? Just asking.

What is flat out wrong? That is great you know it is legit. I happy we got the kid. My point is that as long as the Recruit and Doh are on the same page, I don't care when or how the rest of us get caught up to speed. Usually there is a method to the madness.

Well, their method is wrong! Sell the program. They aren't doing that.
Get people talking about the kids you are pursuing and talk about how exciting it is to have this kid and what me, McCoy and Williams can do.

PonyDoh & Patton are right. Looks like Robo's back @ it again choreograhing an atmosphere of paranoia continuing to alienate the programs tiny fan base.
There is NO reason @ all to be handling things this way, unless they are afraid that SC Upstate, Centenary, Pine Bluff, UT San Antonio, or some other powerhouse program like ours is going to sneak in the back door & steal our prize juco recruit that up to this point no one else in the country knows about.
Hopefully the next regime will be more fan friendly & realize they should cater to what little fan base they still have left.
On the flip side, maybe we are in the GJ sweepstakes & backed off of Clinkscales. I can't see us signing 2 small guards.

more mystery-anybody know why this Stat board only lists Clinkscales as playing 9 games?

I wish I knew everything.
Maybe the Recruit asked Doh to hold off on going public until he straightened out some things on his end. Thousands of what ifs and maybes, but I say we assume the worst and start looting and burning things!

Doh being Doh. I do like the juco pursuit. Do we have any 6'7 slashers or 6'10 glass cleaners on the juco radar screen? clearly doh is recruiting over Walker and Harp, but i think we need a tough biggun much more than a guard. Presuming there is no truth to the McCoy rumor.

HS kid Sandi Marcius sounds like a really good prospect. Physical 6'10"
player. Looks like Purdue & South Florida are the main competition.
Good info on him on the recruting board. There have also been a couple of 6'7 Juco types mentioned but everything is top secret.
