I'm glad I got to read this article. The Meridian Room is by far my favorite bar in Dallas... I was hacked a while back to find it closed and wasn't aware that it had re-opened.

Abu - did the new owners bring back the El Jeffe? The prior owners had discontinued it for the last couple years.... I can understand why it was damn near impossible to drink. But I always made every new person I took to the Meridian Room drink one. It was (is?) a jalepeno dirty martini. The juice of a jalepeno served with a fresh jalepeno.

Can't say i ever really enjoyed drinking one but I always got one every once in a while to remind myself it was good to be alive. But yeah, your mouth was on fire the rest of the night.

Well it has been open since late November, but I have not been faced with the El Jeffe, though the "Dark and Stormy" is winner, and they had the Tanqueray Rangpur Gin that was spectacular, though I think I drank them out of it.

actually ill be back on thursday night too... probably dallas on friday night funky town on saturday. let me know whats going on. maybe stallion will come out and play?

I'll be headed back to the ATX on Saturday, so we could possibly make something happen on Thurs. or Fri. night.

I may end up doing a little birfday shindig for myself on Friday though (it's my actual birthday on this coming Monday), so I may rent one of those karaoke rooms some place. Maybe you and Stallion can do a stirring rendition of Julio and Willie's "To All the Girls I have Loved Before"...

I wont be back until 1 or 2 am friday morning so i dont think im going to make it out on thursday, but let me know what you end up doing on friday night. i'm heading to javiers for dinner but after that i'm game for anything (i will have some ladies with me if thats ok...)
