Lets see how the season plays out. I don't think one win @ home is going to change alot of kids minds.

The only positive impact this game would have on recruiting is that Shawnbrey ran for a whole bunch of yards. That will show Fields and any other running back we can and will run in this offense and they will be able to put up some nice numbers.

It's not the win, it's how we won. We did not look to good in winning the game.

I am not sure that this game discouraged many of our recruits; however, the whole atmosphere did not have the same feeling as watching good Div 1 games. Unfortunately, I was forced to watch the game on my computer and listen to the radio broadcast which diminishes from the scene. Watching tons of kids running around the aisles and tumbling down the hill on the open end, people talking on their cell phones, groups of people casually chatting with little interest in the game gave the impression that this was a pick up game at a family picnic. Never-the-less, I remain optimistic that we have improved this year, our talent is better, our recruits are better and that we should be realistic that it will take at least 4 years to start showing the turn around we expect. Most of our 2 deep would still be redshirts or running 3d or 4th team on most big time Div I teams. This is not a knock on our talent, but a realistic comment on the strength, maturity, practice competition and experience that is necessary to play on a good Div I team.

People will enjoy and get "into" the games once we a) Play meaningful teams b) Have a good record in which every game counts towards some sort of end goal (bowl game, etc.).
I just graduated and I attended every game (except for my first ever SMU game vs. Baylor where I "fell asleep" on a coach on the Blvd and it was halftime when I awoke, live and learn). But the matter how much I love the 'stangs I never really felt the same degree of emotion as I did when we played TCU or even the season we almost went to a bowl game with Jwill....Hard to get into the games when we're usually loosing by the second quarter.

We need to go to a bowl game. That would change the mindset of the program and campus. Probably the city as well.
