Go tell that to those schools. I talked to a Naval Academy grad who said that if anyone messed with their goat, they would be shot.RednBlue11 wrote:yes they areStatler wrote:So the following school mascots must be lies:RednBlue11 wrote:sure, lets make peruna our official mascot and solidify a lie of a mascot for the foreseeable future
Navy has a goat; they are the Midshipmen.
A&M has a Collie; they are the Aggies.
Tennesse has a hound dawg (a blue tick I think); they are the volunteers.
Army has a mule.
It's called tradition.

Things have never been the same since "pogo stick" Peruna graduated. He was the best. The ones that have followed him are, at the most, part time and lazy.davidpaul123 wrote:as a side note on mascots, i would like to see a little more energy from our friend in the horse costume, whoever you are.

I wouldn't say what he's saying is dumb. Arrogant perhaps, and most definitely ignorant. Not the greatest combination. Oh well, the young kids are gonna have their "opinions," you knowNickSMU17 wrote:RednBlue11 wrote:to be honest none of those schools have such ironic and dumb mascots as ours

Reasons to keep Peruna
1. No rider needed, emblematic of the wild mustang
2. Likes to bite female cheerleaders on the rear
3. Feisty
4. Tradition
5. Likes to create mayhem now and then
a. Killing Fordham Ram
b. Kicking BEVO
c. Getting busy with Misty
d. Leaving a gift at TCU
e. Scaring the Baylor Bear
f. Running through the Rice band.
6. Has cojones
Reasons not to keep Peruna
1. Small
2. Has cojones
3. Does not play well with others
4. Cannot be ridden
5. Not hip or modern.
6. JJ doesn't like him (probably dropped a load on JJ's shoes).
I'll keep Peruna thank you.

Great list! They need to include that in the student senate referendum.EastStang wrote:Reasons to keep Peruna

This is a good reason to keep him. I'd move this to the 'Reasons to Keep Peruna' list.6. JJ doesn't like him (probably dropped a load on JJ's shoes).

Both of my schools seem to be having mascot issues
Grackles and tigers and bats - oh, my! ACC seeks a mascot
Suggestions invited; college to hold online election open to public in spring.

The University of Texas has the longhorn. Texas Tech University, the masked rider. Stanford University, cardinal - the color, not the bird. Now Austin Community College wants a mascot, and it's seeking suggestions from students, employees and the public.
"We think a mascot will help enhance school spirit, create a unique college identity and raise awareness of ACC's role in the community," said Brette Lea, the executive director of public information and college marketing and the chairwoman of a mascot search committee.
"We hope to get hundreds of ideas. Some of them are going to be a little wacky. Some are going to be heartfelt. I hope people think outside the box," Lea said.
ACC had a mascot - the eagle - in the 1970s, as well as official colors of black and gold, but those traditions faded, Lea said.
Suggestions can be submitted online through Dec. 4 at www.austincc.edu/mascot. In addition, college representatives will accept suggestions Saturday and Sunday at a tent ACC plans to set up at 10th Street and Congress Avenue during the Texas Book Festival.

Re: STUDENTS WANT MASCOT VOTE
What a timely turn of events. As Stallion suggested, we have 2 horses they can have and all the publicity that goes with them. It'd get the school on the map and in the spotlight.
