How do you know it's guesswork? You'd rather hide behind the unknown than make a bold statement. You're just bothered by my confidence. I'm pretty confident I'm what I'm seeing. And if you can't see the same thing the blindness is not lost on you.
You just enjoy straddling that fencepost and being afraid to take a position - on anything.
And if I'm wrong about Jones, was I wrong about how I called the qb thing at Tulsa when a good number of people on this board? 20-30-0 354 2TD. You have a nice day.

Mitchell's experience in those situations has not been stellar as I recall.
not for us at least.

You're not worth debating over this, but here's how I know it's guesswork:
1. BLM can play. So can Padron, but BLM can play. He has had good days, and he has had not-so-good days. But there is talent there. Those of us who have been around college football for a while -and you talk as if you are one of those - can tell when a player without talent takes the field. BLM does not fall into that category. He has a stronger arm (at the moment) and more experience running JJ's offense than anyone on the roster.
2. JJ clearly thinks BLM can play, or he wouldn't have stuck with him as long as he did. If he thought BLM was without talent, or had somehow "lost it," he would be giving PonyPride and the DMN something about how Padron is "now ready to take over." Instead, he gives the same comments for Padron that he gave all along for BLM: it's a learning process?
3. You posted it. That's not to suggest you don't know anything - maybe you do - but your post history shows an affinity for making outlandish statements for the sole purpose of sounding edgy and/or controversial.
4. JJ knows more about evaluating QBs than everyone on this board ... combined. If he says there's a chance either will play, I'd say there's a chance. Notice he hasn't said Braden Smith also is in the running to start. He has a package of plays for Braden, but has never suggested it would be anythin more than the occasional package.
I'm not straddling any fences here (as for fencePOST straddling, I'll leave that to you). I am simply deferring to someone (JJ) who knows a hell of a lot more.
You have a good day, too - I'm out.

"If you think JJ is spending his time "pulling the wool over people's eyes just because he likes jacking with them" you clearly have not met the man, and/or know absolutely nothing about him"
He makes snide remarks about Coach June Jones whenever he can. When we're bowl bound he'll still be hollering how much better it would be if we ran some other type of offense. Patton is a decent SMU fan but is not a fan of our head coach and I tend to think he never will be even if Coach Jones takes us to winning 9-10 games a year on a regular basis. Fine as long as he attends games and cheers for SMU it doesn't really matter.

I agree that barring injury to Padron BLM will probably not start again, but to say it is not guesswork is silly. You did not even allow for injury, so you implicitly predict with 100% confidence that Padron will never get hurt while BLM is the backup. I hope you are right, but I hope you knocked on some wood when you posted that.
Bold predictions are one thing, lots of people make them on here, but you present your bold predictions as facts and then deny that it is a guess. Weird.

Also, there are 3 qb's that can play. They all need to get ready to play every week.
He knows it better than Mitchell does. He trained under the principles of this type of scheme since middle school and it shows. Mitchell only returns if Padron gets hurt badly.
I am not saying I totally agree with GSP, but to be fair he actually did allow for injury.

Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?
I think going back to BLM would be step in the wrong direction. Padron hasn't shown much that would make BLM a better candidate to start next week and beyond. As for the O-line and stopping the pass rush, I think Padron is definitely more suited for a strong pass rush since he is more mobile/athletic than Bo.
I'm not a Bo fan, but we do have a good situation with a freshman playing very well, and a somewhat capable, experienced backup in Bo Levi who can step in if Padron gets hurt or starts blowing it.

Apologies to GSP, I missed that post, I was just going off his first one.

Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?
I'll say this for BLM: during the Rice game, he was suited up and standing next to JJ the entire game and listening to what he was telling Padron each time he came to the sideline. Whether BLM plays again or not, at least he's there and - hopefully! - learning. I like that.

Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?
Actually that is not true. At one point in the second half the ever-observant Dr.V asked me what the hell Mitchell was doing standing by himself 30 yards away from Jones while we were driving on offense. He was suited up though, you got that right.

Jones has just ripped a nasty one, and BLM was giving it a moment to let the air clear.

Re: Any word on Mitchell for UTEP?
Jones is going to say BLM is a game-time decision through the rest of the season. That way, if Padron tanks, he can send in BLM and it'll be 'bringing in the injured starter back in' and not 'benching the starter Padron'. Jones hates benching QBs.
Padron will be named the starter next year.

If you have ANY questions about who is our starter, go watch the film of the Tulsa game... Nuff said.
Oh and pay attention to the beautiful pass to Sanders on the last TD drive. That throw was very much Brees-ish or Manning-ish.
