I'm glad to hear that about USF, but this performance tonight is not exactly encouraging.

Re: SMU vs aTm game thread
let's just take care of business against the cupcakes now coming up on the schedule (to prepare for TCU)...although we haven't earned the right to call anyone a cupcake, have we?

Re: SMU vs aTm game thread
Definitely cannot call anyone a cupcake until this team proves otherwise. Still look the same as last year.

Re: SMU vs aTm game thread
This team needs a PG. Neither McCoy or Williams have any interest in passing.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

Re: SMU vs aTm game thread
I cannot agree more. Racking up single digit assist numbers, game after game is awful. Assists=easy buckets. And finally, why is Harp starting?
Re: SMU vs aTm game thread
worst smu crowd for a decent opponent I have ever seen. It was more one sided in Moody than the old Barnhill South days. tells you what the common SMU fan thinks of the Doh era. Not sure the Doh era is not DOA. We looked terrible from an organization and leadership point of view. Frankly, there was none. Made you miss the days of Jon Killen and company at least putting up some fight. We pretty much laid down early tonight. Thank goodness for Faye being able to hit a decent percentage of circus shots.
Re: SMU vs aTm game thread
oh, and the highlight of the night for me was Harps tip in. still think our lineup is broken if no one can beat him out.
Re: SMU vs aTm game thread
First of all, thank you to all students and SMU fans for coming out. Moody has not been that good for awhile, even with all the aggies. I have a few issues with our team so far.
1.) Why does Ryan Harp start? He really is not a threat on both defense or offense and is much slower than the opposition. It is frustrating to watch athletes such as Justin Haynes ride the pine while Harp gets beat by a more physical opponent.
2.) Against big opponents, Papa Dia is a lost cause. Dia can't defend (move his feet) and is just not physical in the paint. It seems that he is afraid to play down low. Also, he is not going to be making those turn-around fadeaways that he made tonight the rest of the season. We will need Luttman to step up and guard and be the role player that Dia isnt.
3.) It's as if Coach Doherty plays not to lose instead of playing to win. When aTm made a basket, we were slow to transition and let them get back on defense. Our guards are quick enough to push it up the floor and into a primary or secondary fast break.

Re: SMU vs aTm game thread
I really question our mental toughness. We consistently make mindless mistake after mistake whether it be a dumb foul, an errant pass, or a horrible shot. It is so frustrating, and I think it reflects poorly on Coach Doh and the team's overall bball IQ.

re: Harp's starting...I think Stallion's line from the USF thread is the only logical explanation

Starter Ryan Harp will not give up his scandalous pictures of Matt Doherty

Re: SMU vs aTm game thread
The half time performance might have been worse than our performance on the court tonight. Who knew SMU had a hip-hop dance team?
