Our complaint is that he seems more interested in giving the Hawaii fans a good experience than the SMU fans.

no thats absolutely not the case, if anything its because he loves national attention and that game with all the hoopla surrounding it is in position to do just that... national attention helps recruiting and putting your program on the map of recruits... losing, i mean getting pounded by a 6-6 tennessee team does the exact opposite..

There is no national attention for the Hawaii Bowl. That is why it will go out of business if Hawaii can't consistently be bowl eligible.

naw believe JJ / SMU in the Hawaii Bowl will get A LOT of attention... more than JJ/SMU in the Liberty bowl... unless of course JJ/SMU smoke whatever SEC team they play by 30 pts...

Under the current situation, JJ should have held off telling the media we are going to Hawaii come hell or high water. He could continue to tell his team that he was going to make it happen and keep it in the locker room. Now if we lose either of the last two games or the championship game, that loss will always be tainted as possibly being a purposeful loss...true or not. I really hope our guys focus and win both of our last two games...and the championship game and then let the power brokers work out the bowl deals.

JJ does things JJs way, and if you dont like it do nothing and hope he leaves, or fire him... or just keep your mouth shut and let the man do what he does best, build a winning program...

Although I am reconsidering my bowl position, it is comments like this that make me angry. I wish you made more rational arguments...You sound like a [deleted] child.

There are pro's and con's to both sides, I still think Memphis is a better game for the fans/school/conference/ ect.

But I understand the desire to take the kids to Hawaii.

I am mixed, but not canceling my reservation at the peabody.

No...I Understand what you said and How you said it...

I just think your whole rant is childish...You have been on this board for 10 days, and this is the USA so you can say/post whatever you want...but most would appreciate rational thought.

Most who support the Hawaii game would follow JJ to China if he wanted to go there...but this is bigger than JJ...So arguments should be heard and considered...

i just dont think a lot of fans are giving the man what he deserves and earned.... the right to do what he wants with the team and program, without having people whine about it... plus hes doing it for the program, the kids, and the fans believe it or not...

The goal is to win the Conf. Championship and then win the respective bowl game which outlays 1.7 mil to our conference, the highest paying bowl....It really should be their decision, if anyone. They are paying the most and deserve the right of first choice.

so you think just cuz the liberty bowl pays the most they should automatically have a trump card on who comes... even if the team they want doesnt want to go...

Stallion wrote:Mr. Pony-I'm telling you what no Liberty Bowl official will. They are dancing in the streets in Memphis about June Jones' statement. The Liberty Bowl would never pick SMU and our 15,000 fans unless they had to. Now June Jones has given them an out where they don't have to be the bad guy by taking a school other than the CUSA winner. Jones instead will take the public heat and the Liberty Bowl avoid the heat of insulting the CUSA winner. They will make public statements that will be be supportine of their "tradition of taking the CUSA winner" but that is just window dressing. CUSA, the Liberty Bowl and the Hawaii Bowl will quietly arrange for SMU to go to Hawaii if that becomes necessary. Its going to happen so as Clayton Williams said you might as well sit back and enjoy it.

I'd sure as hell like to know what's going on with America, because again, I agree 100% with Stallion.

SMU WILL TAKE FEWER THAN 10,000 to Memphis. Count on it. Maybe 5,000. Besides, as JJ said, he's locked in to Hawaii. I'll bet we have around 1000-1500 at Hawaii.

At this point, provided SMU beats Marshall and Tulane (and that's not a guarantee), I think ECU has a better than even chance of making it a non-issue as to whether the champion goes to Memphis or not.

The Players earned the choice-that's the only reason I would accept the Hawaii Bowl as their decision. You hurt your own arguments. I've never heard of a school going to a bowl because a Coach earned it. The Players yes-the Coach No.
