Hey C-USA, why do we keep having to host a home game on Thanksgiving weekend?!!!!!

Missed my second last home game as a season tickets holder in a row, following the
Longview Lobos in the playoffs. Last year we knocked off Carter, and this year Carrollton
Newman Smith in a classic in Corsicana.

Great game Newman-Smith, and I noticed the school song is a version of Varsity.

if SMU wants top level athletes this is going to have to change.

By "this" do you mean the attendance, or do you mean hosting a game on the Saturday after Thanksgiving?

41,000 at TCU. And yes it was a big game for TCU but it was a historically important game for SMU too. Students and alumni failed to respond. I'm really not interested in what excuses they may have. It's minor league

Everybody around a small university that's not in the top 10 in the nation goes home to see
friends and relatives during Thanksgiving weekend :!:

What's your guess :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

the "home" side was as full as it usually is...although I will note that standing next to the tunnel from which the geldings emerge it was still easy to pick out Stallion from his perch. The students, though...I expected a light turnout...but I think even calling that showing "sparse" would be stretching it....truly I think there were as many students in Moody for the bball game vs aTm...and I'm only including those that stand behind our guys and Doh.

Still get a kick out of people who enjoy standing and exchanging pleasantries (HEY!! How's Megan doing? etc) while a play IS GOING ON.

I'll still gladly take all of that and be 7-5 and knowing I'll be watching more than just our bball team in Hawaii.

There is no way there were 20K+ in the stadium today. I think this is much like the SFA game - counting all tickets sold. 10K for the busses (50/bus x 200 buses), but even if I had double vision there weren't 10K students bused in.

All that being said, I think the crowd was much better than our Thanksgiving game last year...

Sitting in the front row of the student section and looking behind me I was extremely disappointed with the turnout. I woke up at 6:15 to fly from Atlanta to Dallas for God sake, I really think a lot more students living in the DFW area could have showed up.

Yeah, it was a little disappointing to wake up at 6:45AM to make it back in time for my last home game of my senior year and then I'm one of maybe 200 students who bothered to show up.

I do get this thing about attendance. It can be very hard to get excited only to see your dreams crushed year after year. SMU has had its dreams crushed so many times, for some, it is just not worth it. I honestly do not think I could have taken much more before I quit. I guess that's what JJ means when he talks about believing. I believe, even from far away. One big win will bring SMU to another level. This bowl has brought SMU to a level not seen in 25 yr.s. A win in the bowl will be big. A win against TT will be huge. There are people across this country that are hoping, trying to believe again. We will be fine/OK/win again/national recognition again. A win at TT will start to fill, if not fill the stadium. Once SMU becomes relevant again, the students and those that were so hurt over 25yr.s will be back. So I will not quit you SMU.

This game was not originally scheduled for this weekend. We had to switch because Tulane inadvertently scheduled another game the same date we had them scheduled and this was the only weekend available to switch to.
