Re: McNeal GOING PRO
I thought Nate Illoa had 1000 yards, maybe it was only 900-something though...
I really hate to see Shawnbrey leave. Best of luck to him in the NFL. I just hope this decision doesn't backfire on him and he does indeed get picked up in the 4th-5th round like he's expecting. A good 40 time at the SMU Pro Day will help his stock tremendously

You would think the best advice he got was from JJ.

Given what we think we have learned about his alleged academic issues, would we have expected him to be on the field in 2010 anyway?

I agree with expony18. His academic issues played a part in this, I'm sure. I do remember him saying something along the lines of "I only need to pass 2 classes to play in the bowl"...after asking him how his grades were...
Re: McNeal GOING PRO
That being said, we would have started to have to look for alternatives. We'll miss that difference making speed. But we have enough forewarning to prepare for this. It's a shame he didn't take advantage of his academic opportunity and to be sure, he let his team and

Re: McNeal GOING PRO
This was his original plan from the start with Jones fully aware and only expected to have him this year to cover up our lack of QB. We won't need a RB of that caliber as badly next year because we finally have a QB. I say we come out even on the exchange next year.

Nice Rent-A-Player...what were the six hours he took last year to stay eligible for the season?
Perhaps Geography 101:Find your classroom each class day on your own and Nutrition 101:Clean your plate at the training table each day/

I know he took Helfert's ginormous non-major theatre class, because I attended the SFA game with CH, and he said there were a ton of football players taking that course, including SM.

Re: McNeal GOING PRO
Maybe he is a 4th or 5th round choice or a free agent, but I think a 1000 yard rusher from a run and shoot with his nose for the endzone is going to get some attention of some teams. He is exactly the kind of running back that Mike Shannahan picks up from a later round and turns into an NFL back. If he goes undrafted, I would not be surprised to see the Redskins try and sign him.

Re: McNeal GOING PRO
The Run and Shoot will hurt his draft analysis since he doesn't get carries from a QB lined up under center. He gets finesse yardage from delayed handoffs with LBs dropping in coverage not against defenses committing defenders to stop the running game. Very similiar to the downgrade to QBs who have never taken snaps from Center
