well did someone get hurt? Article says two shots were fired in the direction of the two people who got in the car and sped away The article says:

".Bernard was hit in the back. The driver of the car, 18-year-old Aruni Andre, was hit in the shoulder and leg. Both were treated and released at Orlando Regional Hospital."

Quite frankly I was a little confused too about exactly what happened and who fired the shots that hit the victims.

Because breaking up a fight is such a sign of being attracted to trouble...

Sorry...I didn't see the article (don't know how I missed it...was right there in front of me)...I was trying to not say anything acquired on other sites...that whole 'be cool with info' thing that Armen and Josh have going. So not knowing the whole story, I assumed. My bad. Really my bad.

Wow. That certainly changes the tenor of the looks he gets from colleges, including Jones & Co. The two questions I would contemplate are a) Will he do it again? and b) if the answer to (a) is "no", then is it appropriate that he be turned away for his crimes? He's certainly answered for his crimes; in fact, I'd say his youth was taken as penance for his actions. But those two questions are crucial in my mind to get straight before admitting him to the school or to the field.

So I have sobered up a little. I wonder just what being penitent entails once someone leaves prison. Does the presence of justice-served on the transgressor necessitate the absence of later privilege?

The guy has been clean. JJ knows who should get a 2nd chance and has a lot of experience with players with past problems. If JJ says we should take this guy, I hope we let him in school. Great RB..

Me too. If Coach believes in him, I believe in him.

Does anyone else find it interesting that Gary Patterson is talking about 2nd chances in the article? Sounds like TCU is in the mix to me.

Somebody needs to tell Rivals to stop stealing free content from PonyFans.

I think that would take them out of the mix because you can't comment on players that haven't signed with your team.

The Run and "Shoot" offense is perfect for him.

I don't know...I think I would much rather take a chance with someone that has gotten in trouble at 16, had to pay a very high price, and seems to be getting his act together in school, than someone that has yet to learn just how serious the consequenses of gun play, etc. is as a 25 year old pro football or basketball player.
The positive press of this young man acheiving success on the field and actually graduating from SMU would be major--plus, it would make all of us just feel good.

His dad is a minister and is close to Turner, so he has an additional good influence. He has really made progress with his studies and even taking 6 classes at a time to qualify. I love the guys goal setting and am rooting for him, even if he doesn't get in here at SMU. From 16 years old from a tough hood, that most of us have no idea how things work, to 23 years old with enough credits and at 2.8 GPA shows his mental toughness.

Here's hoping he makes it, even if its not here at SMU. It would sure make a good success story.
