I have fond memories of walking over to the 7-11 at halftime and seeing dozens of people of all ages pounding beers in the parking lot. Cops pretty much turned a blind eye to it, although the stadium staff started noticing people walking over and then coming back with mysterious bulges in their clothes.

That's why God invented cowboy boots, my friend. Four flasks, two in each boot...nobody's ever gonna bother you and you'll be just fine.

And women. With those big purses, they make great alcohol mules.

I remember going to a Virginia Tech game at Lane Stadium and watching the event staff pat and shake down the women to watch the airplane liquor bottles fall out of their shirts and bras en masse. Kind of sad actually.

that's uncomfortable as hell several reasons (boots = pants/jeans - not comfy in Texas Sept-mid Nov; and it hits your ankle bones), and reserved for underage kids. just stick it in your pocket. i've been patted down a total of ZERO times going into the stadium. one time took a full 750ml bottle of crown in my pocket. how it fit i have no idea, but got it in - that was in much younger and drunker days - a 'traveler' works just fine now
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

What happened to the highrise dorm plan for Mrs. Bairds???

Why does SMU need it's own data center?

I wonder if that will change with the fact that we're actually winning games now. A small part of me will miss the days of being 2-22, because you could basically wheel a keg into the stadium and march it down on the field and the 1800 people in the stadium really couldn't care less. Hopefully we don't have to put up with a raised bar of event staff along with raised expectations.

University officials say they plan to put tennis courts, an electrical substation and a data center on the site.
Kind of a waste for such a primo location.

Maybe they don't want anything detracting from, or adding traffic to, the W Library.

Agreed. Usually you want to put that type of facility on cheap land, and far away from your main location for natural disaster reasons.

Not the best use of that land imo.

Bairds has very limited uses because of prior business types located there. thus the agreement and approval from city of dallas.

Putting residential would be very expensive due to all the chemicals that have been used on that site (for Baird's plus multiple dry cleaners). It would require a complete excavation. The 'dorms' will now be on the north side of Mockingbird, somewhere behind the shopping center.

I remember coming back from the Cotton bowl after an early season win and congratulating another student who was buying a six-pack, and the student turned around and it was Ron Meyer....man, he was pumped up !
I have fond memories of the old Texaco station. Sky Chief Supreme for 23 cents a gallon. Yes, it was 1965, but $4.60 filled up the tank.
