Re: DMN article comparing TCU/SMU
Thats BS...
He was a very late qualifier....thats why no one offered....no one believe he was going to get in anywhere...
Lucky for you guys, you don't go to a great academic school and could admit him...

Re: DMN article comparing TCU/SMU
TCU fans love to act like Franchione found Tomlinson in a pumkin patch. While he was passed over by top teams-BECAUSE he was a LATE QUALIFIER-he also was No. 18 on a Texas Top 100 List as a Junior. Every recruitnik knew who he was. Late qualifiers often don't get a bunch of scholarship offers and see their stock fall. See that 4 star considering Portand St., SMU and Idaho. See Rickey Collins. Schools back off when academics are questionable. But KUDOs to TCU for giving their Head Coach the flexibility to recruit late qualifiers something TCU specialized in under Franchione-not so much under Patterson. SMU never gave kids a shot at late qualification in those days-their class was complete on signing date

If you speak to or just listen to Tomlinson you immediately know he is intelligent and well educated. Why anyone would not accept that kid when they all take unqualified doucebag offspring from donors is beyond me. The interview sowed that one up. He is greatness.
I would much rather have him as the face of our program than Eric um you know Dickerson and the mother of all [deleted] Craig f'ing James. Especially James.
On a seperate note, does McIlhenney still come around? Mad respect for him.

No one said that he was not educated. He was just a late qualifier.

Also, I believe he was 2* or 3 at most. Not sure about the #18 rated recruit. Maybe in Waco. Poit is he was an awesome athlete, student and now ambassador for the program. He was not the starter when we wood shedded USC in the Sun Bowl but we saw flashes of what was to come.

Eric Dickerson > L.Tomlinson
Anyone who says otherwise never saw Dickerson play.

TCU was paying players then too -- they just sucked.

It would be tough to argue against Dickerson the runner. Not to sound gay be he was by far the most elegant runner and to add the power was amazing. Maybe the greatest chin strap as well.
I was talking about the complete package. What has Eric done for your program since he left. Craig James seems content with pumping torpedoes into it.
Do any of the guys from that era come back and support. Seems like there was a Carter in the secondary that got drafted and also the Nose guard by the same name. Serious question. Not smack.

Ummm, well he was instrumental in getting June Jones hired for one. He did all of the recruiting when SMU was not allowed to contact him.
Craig James is a complete @sshat, I'll give you that, I can't stand him one bit.

yeah about 200 of you jackasses said the same thing about Eric Dickerson until he played a role in getting June Jones. They had the balls to speak their mind about a failing, incompetent athletic department. Good for them. Now Dickerson is everybody's darling around here-how many of you stood up for him when our own fans attacked him like this dickweed just did James

Re: DMN article comparing TCU/SMU
Fact: Tomlinson was a Pat Sullivan recruit.
Franchione made Tomlinson share carries with Basil Mitchell early in his college career. I don't think LT blossomed until he became the full-time starter, which probably explains his light recruitment.
And if Baylor passed on Tomlinson because he's a late qualifier, that's hard to believe because Chuck Reedy was signing every top recruit who wouldn't qualify just to make a splash on signing day. Reedy just wasn't very high on Tomlinson, as I recall.

Didn't realize Dickerson was that involved. That is cool and can't hut recruiting. Not sure you can defend James' douchery. Clearly it is in his genes as his kid is clearly affected by it.
Fvking kick off can't get here soon enough.

Correct. Pretty sure he was just 2*. And yes: Baylor, dating back to the Teaff years, was the Prop 48 / partial qualifier capital of the world.
He was really small when he showed up but was a madman in the wait room and practice. He could have been Rudy but made himself into a Hall of Famer. Good story.
