I guarantee you that if we roll that pathetic OOC schedule, and are like 12-2 heading into conference, nobody will care who we beat. There will be some optimism etc. It beats everyone jumping ship after losing to A&M in the first game last year.

Unfortunately, you don't have to look too far back. Last year, SMU played at Occidental on its way to Hawaii. Villanova played at Redlands (another D-III school in Southern California) on its way to Hawaii a few years ago as well.

So is SMU stopping in Abilene to play McMurry so they can continue on to play Sul Ross State in Alpine? Why not stay in Abilene a couple days and get Hardin-Simmons and Abilene Christian some home games as well? Hell, Howard Payne's only an hour away...

We lost to NAIA Rollins (FL) College at Moody back in the early Dave Bliss years and yes, it happens. Check the sagarin ratings and you will see teams that have played 10 games have only 9 show up in the ratings (because they only count D-1 opponents)

So did the great U of Virginia with Ralph Sampson lose to Chaminade of Hawaii....great upset of Colleg BBall.... An amazingly weak schedule and if Doh is looking for wins to justify his term of coaching here for next year, maybe he does it with this weak schedule. The big problem is, NO one will come out to see this crap....attendence will be the worst in recent memory....
With this schedule Doh needs to have 20 wins and a .500 conference record to stay. JMHO. Can't say we improved this year if we end up with 19 wins because we played against awful teams.

Ole Miss, UALR...after that, hard to justify a loss to one of the ooc opponents. We lost to Alabama State his first year...another loss to them = no progress
I shudder to think of the fallout if we're 7-7 going into conference play
One thing I noticed: Wayland Baptist beat Dallas Christian like ninety something to thirtysomething last year

What's funny is that this schedule was made from a program momentum perspective, more than saving ol Doh. They think the program needs a manufactured record of success to really move forward. I just wants wins and a chance to buy into the CBI, lol. I never thought I'd say this. but the prospect of actually winning a legit number of games, to me, is more exciting than the thought of missing a few bigs on the OOC schedule.
Beyond that, it's a completely new system that we won't have mastered early, if ever, so load to cupcakes up, and lets go into conference 13-1..lol
