His offense is not outdated it simply takes time for a QB to learn it and execute. This is our QB first full season as a starter. His scheme has gotten us to 7 wins with only 4 seniors who start, he is a great recruiter imagine the team with 18 returning starters plus younge guys who played as back ups this year who will push to start. Next year will be the first Jones recruit class to be seniors (even though it is only half a class really because the year you are hired is more the last guy). Just watch Shadowman just watch.

Further even if all your points were true I would still take an outdated scheme with the talent he brings in than Oregon's sceme with the talent Bennet recruited.

Good post, we will see who is right. Unless June is willing to change and at least update a little bit, I fear we are in trouble. Offense is all about evolution, and he seems too stubborn to update.

You're a funny guy.

I respect your opinion, but I do not think I am part of the problem. I want a dynamic guy in here like Todd Graham, proven coach, young guy and hungry, great ideas.

I still dont get how people are so happy that June got one or two more wins than all of our previous coaches, plus he has no sense of our history, he wants to get rid of Peruna and our uniforms...for one more win...no thanks!

I try to inject humor, but this is a message board, I just offer my opinions. I personally do not think June is the answer, and I do not think getting one or two more wins over our previous coache's best year is a breakthrough season, especially when you got 1-11 yoiur first year.

Once again, just my opinion, but I should be able to express it. I think we payed WAYYYY to much money for a hasbeen.

I agree peruna is the best and Black Uniforms are bad idea in Tx heat, but What he is really trying to get rid of is 20+ years of irrelavance and he has already done that and I for one am thankful. patience is a virtue you lack but thankfully you don't matter

You come on here and bash June after every loss, after wins you are nowhere to be found.

Good Post, I respect it.......We do have the illusion of getting rid of 20+ years of futility, but the record is on shaky ground at best.

Look, I hope next year June tears it up and I will be the first one to admit I am wrong, Butr my opinion is that this offense is a hindrance and we will be mediocre while he is the coach.

Give the guy 2 more years and see if we can get past 8 wins. If he can't then I think you'll have a case against him, but it's much too early right now. He's got to at least have a chance at utilizing and training his recruits, that's a painstaking process and it takes time. The team he's using right now isn't even a full recruitment of seniors.

Go away Newbie...I played for SMU back in the late 80's just after the death penalty, I graduated from SMU and have been a donor both financially and emotionally for over 30 years.

Then, he says, thats good, has he considered hiring an offensive coordinater that would run a more dynamic offense?

Then I said, we went 7-5 last season, and 7-6 this season, he has brought us back. Then he said, didn't Phil Bennett go 6-6 in his next to last year...How has June been much better. I said well, he wants to get rid of Peruna and switch us to black uniforms....Not a good argument, but true.

June has missed the boat, his offense is outdated, he has not updated it like Hawaii did.

The defense played well enough to win, but we had such an unimaginative offense game plan, everyone could call out when we would call a run, or a pass...and we lost about 8 minutes of game time making Kyle run over to get the play before we even saw the defense. He needs to update and at least go to handsignals.

Great defensive effort, but our "offensive guru" had a lazy and unimaginative game plan, like always.

Peace out!

June is a smart guy but you're right he is lazy and stubborn. Would it kill him to evolve a little? You know it just might.

You are right, and I apologize, I do want to encourage board participation. I have just given my opinion, and offered rebuttals. Believe me, I celebrate every SMU win...I love SMU, I bleed SMU, I just happen to think that JUne is not the saviour like some do. Just voicing my opinion like you.

Cheers!

This guy is an obvious troll. June's O did just fine in Hawaii and still is; we are not really running June's offense, we are running a nerfed down version due to (I guess) lack of personel. What he ran in Hawaii is far evolved even from what he ran before Hawaii.

Stop responding to obvious trolling.

we keep going back and forth about how he is a savior and w/e...wake up, we dont have the talent yet, june isn't a miracle worker w/ bad players...he is a "miracle" worker because he can get good ones that excel in his offense.

idk, if y'all have looked lately but we are about the 4th or 5th best team in Texas right now, realistically...you dont get talent that makes you 10-2, 11-1, or even 9-3 overnight.

im really happy w/ the direction we are going in...and having to suffer through 2-22 my fist two years i have been here i am very optimistic of our future.

Only because he refuses to change. Look at Hawaii, they basically kept the run and shoot, but updated it. June is still running the same offense he ran in the 80's. Sounds either lazy or stubborn to me.

Remember folks, there is a reason no teams in the top 25 still run the run and shoot or triple option, because there are better offenses.

take off your June Love Glasses and soak up that last sentence..
