JJ even said they will look at position changes for "them" to get them on the field (not sure if that means one or both). RP was kind of taken aback by that answer and frankly so was I. Taking nothing away from Line, but Fields is just too damn good not to get some touches. We could really use him as a safety valve pass catching threat out of the backfield.
Pure speculation on my part, but I wouldn't be the least bit shocked if we see one or both transfer. I hope they don't because we are one play away from needing a new starter.
Fields transferring wouldn't surprise me at all, he had several AQ programs offer him and probably thought he come in and play right away with no established starter returning. Line has 2 seasons left and I can't blame Fields if he doesn't want to wait around, if he leaves now he will still have 2 seasons left to play after sitting out.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

3 to play because he could red shirt his transfer year. That's why this is such a dangerous time (between true frosh and Soph year) for players who may be "disgruntled"

I think this is fantastic to hear. Look at what Patterson does out at TCU - turns HS RBs into stud defensive players. No reason we can't do the same.
I'm sure Jerry Hughes was disappointed he didn't get to play RB like he did in high school, but that NFL contract (no comment on how he played this year) probably makes him pretty happy that he stuck around.
Fields is a great athlete, and I hope he sticks it out and plays where ever he can help the team the most.

How shortsighted are you? I'd rather win with talented players who can also manage to attend class and get passing grades, and eventually graduate with a useful degree and go out make gazillions of dollars that they then donate back to not just the football program, but the University as a whole. A good football team isn't the only thing that helps attract higher paying job offers for graduating seniors, which is something in rather short supply these days, if you hadn't noticed.
Great news on DJ. Fields might also be a great candidate for an H back. Either way, I'd love to see his talent on the field. Even running back some kicks. The easiest route to the NFL is speed and being able to shine on special teams. Who was the only SMU player drafted two years ago? Who found a spot on the Cowboys roster with some returns?
I thought all the receivers made some very impressive catches. Now if they could hang on to the ones that hit them between the numbers. Good receivers make a huge difference in this offense. We need all the good receivers we can get.
Hopefully we get al our receivers back (exclude the one that graduates) and some good ones develop.
