Actually, it was not his home field today. The game was not an SMU-run event. It was a neutral field — I assume the bowl folks had some rule that could be cited to prevent Peruna from running?

The players wore No. 17 decals on their helmets.

I realize that it was not technically a "home game" (though seriously, come on. It couldn't have been much closer to one.) but that does not necessarily preclude Peruna running. It wasn't an away game either. Since it was neutral, both teams should be able to do their thing, in my opinion.
Have they ever let Peruna run across Kyle Field? Next September, I'd love for him to lead the team out of the tunnel and drop a huge load right on the T. The cultists would go ape.

Technically or not... it wasn't a home game. Bowls never are. They don't let the masked rider ride, the don't let Ralpie run, they don't let the Sooner Schooner on the field. (Do they even let the Longhorns fire the cannon?)
No one was singling out Peruna. He never runs at road games, and neither do other mascots.
Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.

Well harumph. Don't know what the story there was. But given that the big horses don't even run at home following touchdowns, something was specific to that game. I'm sure there are other exceptions as well. I guess I just didn't find it all that unusual that they didn't allow Peruna to run following touchdowns at the AFB.

I saw him in his camo blanket, but didn't see/notice him w/the red striped one on until we sang Varsity. Thanks to the person who posted the picture of him w/it on as I didn't see the 17 on it until then. When I saw Army flags being run across their end zone after a score, I wondered if Peruna would be able to do that, too. Glad our band got to get on the field. I'm glad everyone got to see our beautiful campus and I loved the fact that our bowl game was on our campus...........hoping to be in Memphis next year! KICK 'EM MUSTANGS!!!!!!
