In several of his updates it mentions offers from Colorado and Cincy. That said I'll let the kid prove it on the field. Those measureables remind me a lot of BLM.

except for the fact that BLM came from a run-oriented offense in HS and Preston did not

The other great atribute about Preston is that he seems to be a high character guy. Meaning i expect him to put the work in and thrive in the mental aspect of the R&S, I like our chances with a Red Shirt Sophmore after Kyle's Senoir year (obviously I hope june actualy takes advantage of the redshirt process with him)

He gets the quality of his WRs held against him, but if you watch his highlight vids (yes, I know they are highlights, but it's all I have) he's hitting them right on the money in stride, near, midrange, and deep. It's not like his WR's are having to come back and leap to get it.

How does he compare to Kaiser?

Well, he doesn't wear the helmet with a spike on top of it.

Does anyone know how Kaiser looked in practice all year?

Also don't forget the things that are most important for QB's in our R&S system to have: Accuracy and the ability to read and diagnose. Preston has tons of experience in reading defenses and letting his receivers make plays. This is exactly what we need.

The thing with Kaiser is similar to BLM in that he came from a running offense. I always thought that one of BLM's major issues coming in was becoming noodle armed by the 4th quarter, wich (and without any numbers, just speculation) seemed like it could be tracked back to the lack of reps the year before.
To Kaiser's benefit, he's put a year in as a redshirt in the system, which you would hope would better prepare him for the rigors of throwing the ball eleventy-billion times in a season.

I saw Preston play. Yes, Gardena Serra was passing oriented, but they could run too. Preston had a good line and great receivers, but he still made some good throws. Not every catch was made due to some wonderful move by the receivers. Preston has decent size, and good mechanics. I was surprised more programs were not going after him. I am glad he stuck by SMU. I think other Pony fans will be too.

Just for grins-where are you guys getting this 4.5 speed-I've seen it stated several times. Neither service lists a speed in his profile. I don't see a verified speed anywhere. He doesn't look like much of a threat to run in his videos and the scrambles I've seen show nothing more than average speed

I agree. I think it makes a difference In having a QB come in who came from a pass oriented offense. Even though Kyle didn't get a lot of starts he still had years of experience in a passing offense. I expect the transition to be even shorter for Preston who has a lot of starts under his belt.

Stallion, I thought I read on Scout or Rivals a few months ago that Preston had 4.5 speed. I'll try to find it again.

Stallion, you are correct. His speed isn't amazing, but I hope he won't be needing it. Good enough to get along. Also, he comes from a winning program, and I would venture to guess he expects to keep that up. I saw Preston and his team make good adjustments to the d when I saw him play. Let's watch him learn under JJ.
