2012 is really correct for SMU to be maybe be a BCS buster......and not next year......too tough of a Non conference schedule.

I agree SMU is not set up to be a BCS buster next year, but I think everyone is wrong when they say it is the tough schedule that will keep SMU from being a BCS buster. In my opinion, having a tough non-conference schedule INCREASES SMU's chances of being a BCS buster.

If SMU had an easy schedule they would have even less chance of being a BCS buster. Undefeated with no wins against respected non-conference teams will not get SMU in a BCS bowl. A C-USA team cannot be a BCS buster without a tough non-conference schedule, just will not happen.

You just have to be good enough to beat those tough teams...

no question about the schedule. If SMU goes out and beats both A$M and TCU in the non-conference, we would rapidly ascend into the top 25. Going 12-0 after beating 4 nobodies would not convince many pollsters that SMU was BCS worthy just because they swept CUSA

Exactly right. Beating A&M will be difficult, but let's not forget, they should be ranked between 8-15 we when we play them and a victory would propel us to Top 20.

1 victory = Top 20

that's no fun. Our best chance of going undefeated and playing in a BCS game is RIGHT NOW...in the off season. Everyone is unbeaten and top 25 caliber this time of year.

You missed the point...the schedule is too tough for SMU to win them next year as they are not quite ready, therefore they won't be a BCS mentioned team. When they play that type of non conference schedule and WIN, then they will be mentioned in BCS circles.

Yep, if would look pretty good to beat atm and tcu , and have Houston and ucf be undefeated and go out and beat them.

Just nice to be mentioned in a positive way.

I also like the positive press and I think we will have an improved Senior experienced type team, but we just don't have the needed depth yet. Sure we have some highly recruited freshmen coming in who will help and some may even start or play a lot, but they just don't have enough experience yet to create a BCS quality type team.

I think 2013 is our year. Look at this schedule:

08/31 - Texas Tech
09/14 - Baylor
09/21 - at Texas A&M
09/28 - at TCU
