being in the ESPN top 150 should make him a 4 star, right?

All of the players in ESPN's 150 for 2011 were 4 star or higher. Same can be said for Rivals 250.

But I believe right now he is a projected ESPN 150. He still has a lot of high school football to be played. Hopefully he will hold the rating.

The guy has garnered comparisons to Reggie bush. Not a bad start.

Let's not get to excited this sounds like the type of kid that doesn't recieve a lot of early offers becuase he is a bit undersized but when signing day nears gets more serious looks from the bigger schools. It's a great to get a kid excited early about SMU but I won't be surprised if he lands in ESPN's 150 a school like Oregon poaches him from us.

If he gets poached that's fine, the important thing is that Klemm is continuing to get top California talent to seriously consider SMU.

You mean attempt to poach him. They may go after him but it does not mean they will get him. Klemm has held of some other high profile schools before schools before. If we did lose him Oregon would know that they've been in a dogfight. I think Coach Klemm will hold off the opponents.

Guys I don't want to be a downer but we have really only won 1 recruiting battle against the big boys out west and that was for Moreland who was a good recruit but still well below the 150 level. the reports I heard was he wanted to be a big fish in a smaller pool than just an average recruit, someone in the 150 probablt won't have this issue. Klemm is a great recruiter but we haven't won a battle like this would be(not saying we can't and are chances are better than others would have because we do have Klemm). I'll get excited about this guy in October when he has other offers and from the Big Pac-12 schools and he remains firmly committed.

You don't consider Levingston a big recruit out West? Look who we beat out for him, including Oregon (who he lists in the recruiting roundup as one of his favorite teams).

Dontae was a good get but he is not the caliber player that an ESPN 150 player is, My point is that a player that is an espn 150 will be recruited nationally and we have not had a battle like that before. Moreland is the best player we have landed since the 1980's and that was his primary reason in choosing us, will another player have that same criteria I don't know?
